Holland's Run Ends
Holland's Run Ends
Wednesday, 10th Oct 2001 10:46

Matt Holland's appearance record has finally ended after four years. Matt joined Town in 1997 from Bournemouth and had been in the starting line-up in all but one Town game since then, the away game at Millwall in the Worthington Cup last season when he came on as a second half sub.

A couple of figures are being quoted this morning as his total, but 223 seems to be the definitive Holland appearance record (apologies for the error in last night's report, meant to check it before sending it out).

Holland said: "I was very disappointed but the run had to come to an end sometime. I have not missed a game since November 1996 and it was weird to watch the game from the stand. But we played very well and I think we deserved to win."

Alun Armstrong has emerged as an injury worry ahead of Saturday's game with Everton. The striker was subbed at half-time suffering with his recurring back problem.

If he fails to make it then Richard Naylor will be favourite to get a start.

George Burley has denied any contact from Crystal Palace for Richard Naylor. Reports yesterday indicated interest from Steve Bruce, but Burley says he knows nothing of it.

The Town boss said: "It seems clubs are trying to buy our players every day but once again, it is news to me."

However, as we learnt from the James Scowcroft situation in the summer these things can swiftly change and we wouldn't be at all surprised if we saw Jamie Clapham and Richard Naylor depart in the next few weeks.

Town have an extra 300 tickets for Saturday's Everton game on sale. The Toffeemen have returned seats which go straight on sale to the general public from today, two per person to callers at the ticket office or on the booking line.

Tickets cost £28.50 per person , £17.50 concessions and £8.50 to children.

Town have re-arranged dates for the reserve games recently postponed. Two games were called off as they were too close to the UEFA Cup games with Helsingborgs.

The game at home to Derby is now on Monday November 26th while the game with Forest is on Thursday January 31st.
