Stockdale in England Squad

Town keeper David Stockdale has been named in the England squad for their final Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro in Podgorica on Friday night.

The on-loan Fulham man, who was again watched by England goalkeeper-coach Ray Clemence on Saturday, has been named in Fabio Capello’s squads on a number of occasions but is yet to win his first cap. Former Blue Darren Bent is also in the travelling party.

Capello's men only require a draw to secure a place at next summer's European Championship finals.

England: S Carson (Bursaspor), J Hart (Man City), D Stockdale (Ipswich), L Baines (Everton), G Cahill (Bolton), A Cole (Chelsea), P Jagielka (Everton), P Jones (Man Utd), M Richards (Man City), J Terry (captain, Chelsea), K Walker (Tottenham), G Barry (Man City), S Downing (Liverpool), A Johnson (Man City), F Lampard (Chelsea), J Milner (Man City), S Parker (Tottenham), T Walcott (Arsenal), A Young (Man Utd), D Bent (Aston Villa), A Carroll (Liverpool), W Rooney (Man Utd), D Welbeck (Man Utd), B Zamora (Fulham).

Well done Stockdale, (How good does it look seeing the team name "Ipswich" listed in the England squad!) (Yes, I know he's Fulham's, before some bright spark mentions it!!)

Great news for him - but in all honestly, thought he was one of our less effective players on Saturday - flapped at a number of crosses. England class? No, not for me.

Why isn't Cresswell in it? :-)

By far one of our better performers and I don't know what jas has been smoking, but I was at the game and didn't see him do too much wrong! (coming from someone which has kept a clean sheet for half hour at fortress road!)

At least Fulham won and kept a clean sheet yesterday so are less likely to call him back. Brighton's goal might have been a blessing as if we went four, five, six games without conceding a goal then we would just be tempting Fulham more and more to recall him.

Mark :- Good point.
Jas0999 :- If there were any chance, I'm sure I for one wouldn't mind Stockdale signing a permanant deal with us, but as Fulham gave him a new deal before he joined us [ hence the hold-up ], I don't think we have much chance. Unless that was to ensure they got a good price for him, but I expect not.
