Town Raise £13,600 From Sir Bobby Auction

Town’s donation to the Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Ball and Auction which ended yesterday raised £13,600 for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The auction raised an overall total of £202,774.

The Ipswich Town Football Club Experience gave two bidders the chance to provide home and away teams to play on the main pitch at Portman Road.

The winning bidder for the home team was Paul Milsom, of Milsoms Hotels, who offered £5,500 at the Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Ball last week, while the away team raised £8,100 via the online auction.

The teams will be coached by two of Sir Bobby Robson’s ex-players and will receive named shirts from the club and get full access to the dressing rooms at Portman Road.

Town chief executive Simon Clegg said: "I am delighted that the auction and ball have been such a success and that our Ipswich Town Experience auction item has generated so much interest and ultimately money for the two charities.

“Sadly cancer touches us all and in Sir Bobby it took someone from us who was truly a legend of this Football Club. The amount of money raised just goes to show how much Sir Bobby meant to so many."

The auction and fundraising ball were the brainchild of Gina Long, a friend of the Robson family.
