Next Tuesday’s reserves friendly against Arsenal at Town’s Playford Road training ground will be open to the public (KO midday). The Blues withdrew from the Football Combination at the end of last season and are playing only friendlies this year, most of them behind closed doors.

Coach Sean McCarthy, who is in charge of the reserves this season, says the match will give the fringe players a chance to impress: "It's important that we arrange these type of games.

"We need to give the lads who are not playing at the end of the week a chance to get some match football under their belts and it also gives them a chance to remind the coaches, and most importantly the manager, what they can do."

Town are hosting a West Ham second string on Tuesday 22nd November, also at Playford Road with supporters again welcome (KO 1pm).

AlanMahon2011-but patently nothing better to do than make stupid comments. Perhaps watching the reserves and seeing how they perform and seeing their possible potential may perhaps make you better informed

AlanMahon2011....you are just typical of the supporters we DO NOT need at our beloved football club. If you have nothing positive to say about the progress we are clearly making then don't bother commenting. The reserves could be crucial to us later in the season if we are challenging for a play-off place and the injuries mount up. They deserve our support as true fans and I for one will be there just as I was for the previous reserve match!!

Great to have a chance to watch our fringe players...but would have to take time off work to attend, would be good if we could have a mid week night game against good opposition at Portman Road, give the Season ticket holders the same value for money that they used to have a few years ago?

I would love the chance to see some of these players in action against a good team. It's a great opportunity to see what players such as Byron Lawrence and Joe Whight are capable of. If I wasn't on the other side of the world I would be there for sure.
