Wright Handed Number One
Wright Handed Number One

Re-signed keeper Richard Wright has been handed his old number one shirt by the Blues. The 34-year-old could be included on the bench for Saturday's game against Reading but seems unlikely to start.

Wright, who has been training with the squad for some months while he looked for a new club, put pen to paper on a contract until the end of the season on Wednesday.

Blues boss Paul Jewell revealed that interest from Millwall and QPR led to him offering Wright his third spell with Town.

I hope this doesn't mean that we've been tipped off that Stockdale is leaving. Personally I doubt it; I think we've signed Wright as soon as we've found out that there are others sniffing around him. Before that, there was no need to sign him, as he was training with us for free. I just pray he's higher up the pecking order in Jewell's mind than Justin Lee Collins is...

I was told last night by a good colleague of mine that Stockdale has a shoulder injury and that he could be out of the team for a number of weeks. Maybe this is the real reason? Do not be fooled by everything that the management publish its only a smoke screen for the true facts?

Glad to see Wright handed the No 1 Shirt- he's been a great servant to the club and didn't do much wrong when he was phased out by Keane!! Although Stockdale is now the better keeper, a run in a first team for Wrighty could see him come back to some of his old form. Good luck Richard....

I have such mixed emotions about Richard Wright. On the one hand, there are some glorious memories of better days at PR for him and the team as a whole and the whole dream/aspiration that we'd be providing the next England No.1.

On the other hand, we've watched the sad demise of a gifted footballer to warm various benches at various clubs to make LOTS of money but do nothing to further his undoubted talent.

I certainly wish him well though as his success will link to ours as a club.

Here's to some more good memories being made...

Let's not forget, for all the people hammering him in here, 1st season back he was player of the year!

Was a great Keeper in his first spell with us. Seems to have lost confidence over the years though. I remember him looking like a fish out of water when we were hammered at home by Newcastle. If he can recapture his earlier form he could be an asset. Good luck Wrighty!

Tirty four is not a bad age for a keeper and if he can rekindle some of his form of old then he could be with us for some time to come!

Warky signed three times for us. Anyone know if anyone ever signed four times? Or at any club?

Quite a good player to have on the bench, seeing at Lee-Barret is useless! I hope that this doesn't mean that Stockdale is going back to Fullam though, we really need him! COYB! <3
