Wright: We Must Cut Out Errors
Wright: We Must Cut Out Errors
Saturday, 26th Nov 2011 20:31

Returning keeper Richard Wright said Town need to cut out the mistakes and be more consistent throughout games after his third Blues debut ended in a 3-2 defeat to Reading.

Wright said: “We work together all week and the manager puts his ideas across and we need to start taking them on to the pitch and utilising them.

"It wasn't the best of games but at certain times I thought we did well and defended staunchly, but it has to be for the whole 90 minutes and not just in patches.

"We need to cut out the little errors, but the good thing is we have a game on Tuesday where we can hopefully put things right."

The 34-year-old could make his second appearance of this third spell at Portman Road at Burnley on Tuesday with David Stockdale a doubt with the shoulder problem he suffered in training earlier in the week.

Oh neat move, having had every other poor bugger come forward with the platitudes and cliches, we now get the 'new' guy wheeled out. Bravo to you Plug for stepping up to the plate, but it's all getting a bit repetetive isn't it?

Burley and Holland please.... and back to Ipswich traditions and values, youth academy, good passing football from home grown players, minimal loanees and players that would kill to wear the shirt....bring back the Ipswich i love... its being killed off

One error was promoting you ahead of ALB.

Absolute disgrace, what sort of message does this send to players waiting their chance. ALB has trained all season waiting for Stockwell to get injured and this happened. Absolute disgrace.

If ALB has any guts and pride he will knock on PJ's office on Monday and hand in his resignation.

AS far as the game went, ALB may have cut out at least one of the unopposed crosses that led to goals and may not have let the last goal go between his legs.

Stockwell.......fitting kitchens and limited experience in the ridgeons league......
With regards to ALB, get real, ifs and buts and at best may be's, no better than Wrighty, if he was he would be knocking on the door every week. Do agree thought not good when you are bypassed like that.
Burley & Holland, one hasnt done jack since he left us and the other has no experience and is unlikley to give up his media work....

Alfromcol what are you going on about?? ALB is rubbish thats why Richard Wright played today because he's a better goalkeeper. End of, which is why pj brought him in.

If ALB kept goal like Gordan Banks he wouldnt be No.2 in fact if he cant get a chance in the shower of a back 5 this season then he's no chance of ever getting a game.

To all the people who were so delighted to see Wright return does his display today make you feel better? He is a hopeless keeper and has been for eleven years. It amazes me how panicked Jewell was into making such a shambolic gamble today that yet again failed to payoff.Id love to see Burley back at this club and rid it of the Jewell club.Your hopeless Dickie hopeless

Talbs77.

Say what you like about ALB he is not rubbish. It doesn't make him a better keeper just because PJ brought him in, it means that PJ THINKS he is a better keeper. Just like he THINKS that Leadbottom is worth his place every week.

I was only 20 yards from Wright when two of the crosses went in, one he didn't make it to the ball and the other he was stuck on the line.

As I said in a post before the game, he is not tall enough for a keeper and his 1 failing is getting to crosses.

Forget Burley/Holland combo. Would be no better than this current shower. Curbishley or be very persuasive to Mr O,Neil & give him a free reign. The piss poor substitutions lost us the game today, not Wrighty.

Just goes to show what supporters we have.
So called supporters knocking Wright already, Jewell has said Wright was not at fault for the goals, Yet Stockdale has let in 10 in 3 games yet his a god.
When Wright join us the second time he played 62 games for us and was voted Man of the match 13 times by the TWTD readers.
They then say we need players who wear the shirt with pride, yet Wright signed for us instead of Q.P.R. and could have got more money and a longer deal.
Wright has played over 350 games for the club, and still we have a go.

Bullard was a god and everyone said sign him up so thats what we did and now people are saying he is only here for the money and not intrested in town.

amazing bet the players cant wait to play in front of our fans

alfromcol.

Beleive it or not, I base my opinion on watching ITFC football matches not on the fact pj brought him in, its called having an opinion. If you honestly think todays defeat was down to Richard Wright being in goal ahead of the apparently excellent ALB your dillusional. So ALB being in goal today would have changed the result?!!! Poor basic defending, massive lose in confidence upon conceding, and poor ball retention, in my opinion, was the reason we continue to lose football matches.

I've been away for a while but what's happening is killing me, 5 points from the next 9 or Evans will have to get rid of jewell as for a replacement I feel O'neil is to much of an ego but Curbishley would be ideal,Today was not about poor keepers or defenses it was about poor man management and a manager whose ideas and tactics have stagnated and i'm afraid it is now time for a change

to stick up for Wright , it was nice to hear our goalkeeper talking to his backline as i heard in the 1st half.

Nothing against Wright, I just believe it was completely wrong to bring him in today and completely bypass ALB who has waited all season for his chance. Nothing to choose between the two of them so why take such a poor management decision. If PJ doesn't rate ALB which clearly he doesn't based on today's team selection, why has he been on the bench all season and could be called on as a sub at any time if Stockdale took a knock.

The only action for ALB now is to leave ASAP

Sorry, you are one of my favourite player, but really, I'm tired of hearing these bl**dy obvious statements..

Need to cut out errors? F me - state the obvious why not.

We need to spend BIG money on a centre half. IF we had sorted Gareth Mc's contract out, we wouldn't be in this position. Sick of hearing from Blackpool fans how good / solid / rocks Mc & Delaney were at Bloomfield Rd (despite Mc's sh1t header that cost us).

Poor - v.poor. Jan a big time for the club - buy big & good, or Fuc& off.

Big money on a centre back? Worked for Leicester.

By the way, do you people not understand the idea of an interview? Reporters ask stupid questions which they know the answer to, and we hear the stupid answers. But what do you expect/want Wright to say when a reporter asks him things like 'what went wrong?' and 'what did you think of the game?' Funnily enough players don't come out of the dressing room and run to the nearest journo and say 'please interview me!!'

This is aimed at Slowerball and stringy.

At least Wright has spoken to the public, and during the match he was vocal when trying to organise the side. It would be nice if our captain, Grant Leadbitter, would do either of these things.

You have to feel a little sorry for Wright as at half-time he must have been thinking that a clean sheet could see him keep his place. "The good thing is we have a game on Tuesday" might be for Wright himself, as Stockdale may not be recovered in time!

TheWizardDeVos added 08:36 - Nov 27
Wright, you are a mercenary just like a number of your team mates. You are only back with the club for one final pay cheque. So, the team need to cut out errors do they? You have made a career out of individual errors son. You were vastly overrated first time around and were found out when under the spotlight at Arsenal and Everton. I was gutted when we re-signed you first time round and shook my head in disbelief when we did it again! My wonderful club is like a punch drunk boxer on his knees at the moment. 3 or 4 more defeats on the spin and the knockout blow must be delivered to Jewell who is clearly not the answer to our problems.

I've an excellent idea why don't we make wrighty the new scapegoat??? First game back a very nervous defence and a world class save is say it probably wasn't his fault we lost!!!!!! As for ALB im sorry that is a joke isn't it?!!!

Lesta_Tractor added 09:46 - Nov 27
we don't need to spend big, we need to spend well.. That means not wasting wages on players who are over the hill, injury prone or simply disinterested!

Also, its great to see Wrighty back, much better cover for Stockdale than ALB.
