Preston's Coutts Linked
Preston's Coutts Linked
Friday, 9th Dec 2011 08:43

Town and Charlton are both lining up a move for Preston North End midfielder Paul Coutts, according to one of this morning’s tabloids. The 23-year-old scored for North End in Town’s 2-1 victory over the Lancastrians in April's final home game of last season.

The six-times-capped Scottish U21 international was a youth player with hometown club Aberdeen before moving on to Highland League side Cove Rangers.

Coutts, who is 6ft tall, joined Peterborough United in July 2008 after impressing in a trial — with Charlton also said to be interested at that point - and having made his name at London Road followed Posh boss Darren Ferguson to Deepdale in January 2010 for an undisclosed fee, signing a contract until June 2013.

Blues boss Paul Jewell was spotted at Preston watching the Lilywhites’ 0-0 FA Cup draw with Southend last month with Coutts playing the full 90 minutes of that game.

Don't know much about him apart from he plays in the centre and has had some injury problems. I believe Ferguson tried to bring him back to Posh. Right sort of age but does this mean Andrews is not going to stay?

Sounds a bit young for Jewell. 'Maybe in 10 years son, we need to find the right blend of OAPS'

I like the sound of that, a bit of height in the midfield. Maybe we could win the second ball. We keep hearing about links with these types of players but with the exception of Cresswell we never sign them, hopefully when Jewell says he's made mistakes this is the type of thing he is referring too.

All these links just builds our hopes up...I don't believe any of it anymore until the player actually signs, how many times have we been here?

Will probably opt for Charlton . Based on our form and theirs , Charlton are the more likely of the two sides to be in the Championship next season . Come on Town , prove me wrong.

Nice to be linked with a talented young player for once, however, if he was that good why is it only us and charlton being linked with him?
