Jewell Hopeful Carson Will Sign Deal
Tuesday, 17th Jan 2012 06:21

Town boss Paul Jewell has revealed that the Blues are hopeful that midfielder Josh Carson will sign his new contract soon. The Northern Ireland international has been offered an initial two-year deal with the option of further season.

Jewell told the club site: "We have offered Josh a two-year contract, with another year on top. We're waiting to hear back from Josh and his agent but we're hopeful that a deal can be agreed pretty soon."

The Northern Ireland international’s representatives have been in talks with Town regarding new terms since the summer with his current deal up at the end of June.

Town have 14 other players who are out of contract in the summer: Grant Leadbitter, Jason Scotland, Lee Bowyer, Richard Wright, Mark Kennedy, Tommy Smith, Shane O’Connor, Carlos Edwards, Ibrahima Sonko, Luke Hyam, Tamás Priskin, Ronan Murray, Cody Cropper and Cormac Burke.

Scotland and Bowyer have options of a further season based on appearances during this campaign, which may also be the case for one or two others.

another "priority one" situation this one, this must be sorted, Carson cannot be allowed to slip away. Leadboots can go, but not this lad.

As far as I am concerned the only one I would bust a gut to keep are Smith, Hyam, Carson and Murray (if he has not already gone to Swindon in part exchange for their 2 right sided players)

The rest can get out of the club!

I'd hate to see us lose Carson - one bright spark in an otherwise gloomy season so far.

Why not just tie him down to a 4 or 5 year contract?? He'd definitely be much more willing to accept that and his wage demands cant compare to the likes of bowyer and bullard!

No one in their right mind would sign here at the moment If you have any ambition at all you have to walk away or it will be league 1 for you next year with an idiot manager in charge. And yes you can all slate me but it's true no one who wanted a career would come to this club now and play for him

Why does it take so long to sort out a contract at Ipswich.

If they have been talking since the summer surely they have agreed the terms of the contract.

Clegg and his agent must pop off some where nice for a bite to eat in a little old country pub.

The agent will say what he is looking for and Clegg will say what he is prepared to offer and then they meet half way.

The first question must be does the lad want to stay and do we want him.
The lad has a contract with the club so thats the starting point, he will be looking at improved contract and the agent must know what the top limit town will pay.

What about Hyam and Smith? We need to keep these promising youngsters in our squad, they have a big part to play in our future. Jewell says he wants a younger squad, well actions speaker louder than words Paul.

Sign up Josh, look at the mess Lavery and his big head got into!!!

Feel free matt in london - and why does every one feel the need to rake up Lavery he didnt make the mess the club did by offering a couple of hundred pounds a week and then putting barriers in front of every club who wants him - so are we in a situation where the club says sign for me or we will ruin your career - oh and yes fact not speculation

Whats this obsession we now have with signing players for shorter periods but with an 'option' for longer at the end?

I dont remember it being like this until fairly recently. Is this how all clubs now do their business or is it something Clegg has dreamed up?
