Priskin Makes Town Exit
Priskin Makes Town Exit
Tuesday, 17th Jan 2012 15:50

Striker Tamás Priskin has left the Blues after his contract was terminated by mutual consent. The Hungarian international’s terms were up at the end of the season with Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz and Millwall said to be interested in signing him during the January transfer window.

Town chief executive Simon Clegg told the club site: "We have today terminated Tamás's contract by mutual agreement. I would like to wish him every success over the rest of his career."

Priskin added: "It has been a privilege to play for a club of Ipswich Town's standing and I would like to wish the players and all involved at the club all the best for the future."

The frontman joined Town from Watford for £1.7 million in the summer of 2009 and scored nine goals in 35 starts and 25 sub appearances, the last against Blackpool on Saturday.

Priskin's most memorable moment with the Blues was scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 Carling Cup semi-final first leg victory over Arsenal at Portman Road.

The 25-year-old also spent loan spells with QPR, Swansea and Derby while a Town player.

What was the point of playing him at the weekend then? Why didn't why just stick with Ellington?

Gave us one special moment to remember him by - That goal against Arsenal. Other than that he has been a genuine disappointment. Hope he does well somewhere else though, always nice to see ex town players doing well regardless.

Onwards and upwards, COYB

Major loss on this but it might free up some cash on the wages front. Try now for Billy sharp & terminate ellingtons contract also.

Money well spent! At least he gave us the Arsenal moment, I think he was a player we all wanted to do well, most people just thought he needed more game time, shame it didn't work out.

i agree saturday was his last chance to show what he had, clearly didnt want to be there, his sulking effecively cost us the 2nd goal.... such a shame as undoubtably a talent, just wrong attitude.

Rubbish signing, very lazy. Good riddance.

Makes PJ's substition on Saturday even more pointless?
Hopefully get in a new striker (we can only dream of Sharp?) and get rid of Ellington.
Nicky Maynard permanent or Jason Roberts on loan would be nice.

Why was he brought on at the weekend? Bit of kick in the teeth for Chopra- I can't see that decision would do his confidence any good at all!

Thank Christ for that, said at the weekend I never wanted to see him wear our shirt again. Blamed him completely for his lack of effort in the build up to blackpools equalizer. Get rid of the dead wood. I can tolerate players with less quality, but more desire to work hard for the team. Priskin had neither, good riddance.

Shows how bad things are when we're telling players to just clear off.

Jas how about to give him one last chance and if it didnt work out to then offer him the opportunity to go? makes plenty of sense to me. Another rubbish buy from Keano.

Pity. All the ability you could want but none of the attitude. Hope we don't end up like last season, with only one fit striker left for the last few games with everyone else released, sold or injured.

Talented guy, always seemed like he had problems concentrating on the job at hand, maybe too much pressure on him as the side was misfiring or something

I would rather see Ellington go to be honest, good luck Tamas.

What a mess! £2m or more down the drain and nothing recouped. This does not look like the kind of acumen we expect from our "business" to me.

I think we've still got enough options up front to see us through til the end of the season: Chopra, Scotland, JET, Murphy, Ellington, Murray assuming they don't all end up injured at once!

I wish Tamas well in his career but I think this decision is for the best. Shame it never really happened for him here but cest la vie.
