Murray Rejoins Swindon
Murray Rejoins Swindon
Thursday, 19th Jan 2012 16:00

Striker Ronan Murray has rejoined Swindon Town on loan for the rest of the season. The Robins had been keen to sign the Irish U21 international on a permanent basis after he impressed during a three-month loan at the County Ground before Christmas.

Manager Paul Jewell says he weighed up whether to accept Swindon’s bid but ultimately decided against it: “I was considering the offer but I considered it again and decided to give him a new contract.

“He’s gone back on loan to Swindon and I think that will really help his development. I’m all for younger players going out on loan.”

Murray is understood to be close to putting pen to paper on the additional one-year deal which was offered earlier in the week.

I very much doubt Murray will sign a new contract with us. All very bizarre!

Still think that having Murray on our bench rather than Ellington would be better.

Ellington is not the player that he was years ago for Jewell, and the sooner than this is realised the better. He's just a drain on our resources and going to get worse over his year of contract still to go.

Totally agree that Murray would be a better option than Ellington- but Jewell obviously sees something in NE that nobody else does.

All good.
He signs, goes to Swindon, learns from Di Canio, gets games, comes back, bangs them in......Sorted.

Would be been good idea to get first refusal on Ritchie and Caddis Phil do you think we may get these players?

Best for all concerned. Not likely to learn much week in week out while we are trying to get away from the bottom of the league. But will gain more confidence playing in the successful Swindon side.

Likely that he is going back on loan on the basis that he signs his contract first.

Despite what some on here say PJ, SC and ME aren't completely stupid - even if some on here are!

So the plan is to contract our players and loan them out, then get another bunch in on loan.

Interesting

I look forward to tomorrows installment of bizarre.

This is the same scenario as Trotter. He wont sign, then he'll bugger off to swindon at the end of the season. You watch....

Contary to my previous coment i dont believe they could be so stupid to let him go out on loan without signing contract. Still if they did it would prove clegg has to go.

Sounds like a sensible move. It's a shame that Rhodes wasn't loaned out to Huddersfield...

toforoge, here we go, some1 calling for clegg to go. strange how every storey has that comment come up. trouble is, you need to get your facts straight before saying that. i have it on very good grounds that m.e. in a meeting with the ipswich 1st chaiman on sat(sure phil will correct me if im wrong), when asked about cleggs involvement in contract talks & transfers, stated that clegg plays no part at all. they are all dealt with by p.j. & m.e. himself. also for those of you doubting he'll sign & suggesting the club would let him go without signing, read the latest article on here. he has signed

Agree he has to sign new contract before going on loan to Swindon. Otherwise no point at all. There are too many recurring errors at PR these days; surely we're not about to make another. Like Hyam Murray will only re-sign if he is going to have a reasonable crack at first team football. If we are confident enough in his ability to offer a new contract we should be demonstrating it by involving him in our squad. Or is The atmosphere in the first team squad too toxic at present to expose him to it? If he chooses not to sign now he won't ever sign.
