Falkirk Defender Move Still On
Falkirk Defender Move Still On
Thursday, 26th Jan 2012 12:30

Town’s move to Falkirk for left-sided central defender Murray Wallace is still very much alive, despite earlier reports that their offer had been turned down. The Blues are understood to have matched Brighton's bid of £300,000 plus the usual add-ons, while reports elsewhere claim Huddersfield have also now had their offer accepted.

The Seagulls have been given permission to speak to the 19-year-old but with the Blues — and probably others - also still very much in the hunt.

Town, Swansea, Charlton, Norwich and Newcastle were also all reported to have watched the one-time Rangers trainee in action over the Christmas period.

No chance for town when there are 3 BPL teams vying for his signature. Let's be realistic. Another of PJs false hopes dishing out to smoke us

Sorry to be dim but isn't it right sided Centre Backs we want? Yes, Smith was weak for the third vs the Loudmouths but isn't it Sonko we need cover / replacement for?

Its not over until the fat bird sings........The fees involved are not the issue. Its all to do with what players want these days and perhaps how much ambition our ceo has for this football club.....Get it done FFS simon...

Worcesterblue- Think we need cover for everyone at the back (except Cresswell). No nothing about this guy. Premier League clubs are always watching players, doesn't mean they are going to make an offer.
Bad sign if he takes Brighton over us.

Sorry Phil but this is not an accurate anymore. I have been told that Simon Clegg has increased our bid by one English pound so we top the bidding war!

@PjewellisaGod

Not a bad sign at all if he chooses Brighton over us - not only are they in a better position in the league than us - they have a very good manager with a clear and decisive playing style and general approach to the game. They are a good club, good support, decent ground.

Whereas we have no clear strategy either on or off the pitch, in a relegation battle, quite possibly very few players here next year and a pretty general malaise at PR.

It's called reality.

I don't think a 19 year old will save us if we still have the Pie Man in charge.

Terrible decision after terrible decision PJ!!!
This guy plays in the 2nd tier of Scottish Football. He's not even going to get promoted this season (Ross County are ahead all ready and have 3 games in hand). Yes, he's 19, but we just GAVE AWAY Rory McKeown for nothing and he is now a REGULAR in the Kilmarnock side (who are Scottish Premiership). He's played nearly every game since joining them and has been in the Scottish Premier League team of the week 6 times. He is considered one of the brightest prospects in Scottish football and he's 18.
Explain the logic Jewell. We give away a more talented player and then pay 300,000 for a player less talented in the league below in the SAME POSITION.
Dreadful Management. Why did we not just keep Mckeown????

Guess we aren't offering Smith a new contract then?

Jewell just go you are far more destructive than Keane was and thats saying something! Do us all a favour and go now otherwise fans will be rueing the mess you left us in for years to come. Huge wage bills, not signing our youngsters and possible relegation wow what a combo. Would be surprised if our average attendance was over 15,000 next season, Jewell is turning us into a sh*tter version of WIgan! If you cared half as much about the club as you make out you would've walked by now, the only reason why Marcus wants to give you a chance is probably because you are on a really low wage. Just go thanks.

Jewell out

WE SHOULD NEVER HAVE LET MCKEOWN GO> HE IS BETTER THAN THIS GUY AND WE LET HIM GO FOR FREE.
This will be the least exciting signing of the transfer window if it pans out.
TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT. Why do we let our up and coming prospects vanish in a haze?

Here's my prediction for the transfer window: we'll get no one!!

Bleak times ahead.

Unfortunately town are experiencing desperate times, which can in turn call for desperate measures. I like this new found philosophy of buying young players for the future, the problem is that we are plummeting towards league 1 and relying on a bunch of new teenagers wouldnt be ideal. I think the fans have received mixed messages over the past few years about our strength in the market financially. As far as im concerned ANY new defenders will help, the relentless mistake-making is becoming laughable and thee only player at the back i rate is Cresswell. I am reluctantly ok with us chancing it on a bunch of random young defenders.

In terms of the management, a lot of people on here are calling for Jewells head, and fair enough. The last 12 months have seen countless humiliations for the boys in blue. I feel indifferent; if he walked I wouldnt be bothered, I dont believe for a second that a new manager will make any sort of difference to that spineless and bemused set of players. Our fate will be down to whether 3 other clubs will play even sh***er than our sorry bunch. We're in a catch 22, we need to get behind the team, but the fans need a little inspiration...Unless we actually do sign 5 new players, neither of these things will happen.

Seriously not interested in signing Wallace. He's been ignored by the Scottish Premier boys and thats a bad sign for a start.Best to talk to Huddersfield. Make a deal with them to have him as long as we can get a good deal for one of their players. I wonder who?

Depends on which players we sign. Signings to appease the fans is not a good way forwards.

Who rated cressswell when we signed him
?

when he signed?

casanovacrow added 14:05 - Jan 26
couple of Scottish mates have seen him play and were very impressed.
Cannot judge someone by their division or their team only by their personal ability.
Same people complaining about him not being wanted by Scottish premier teams that complain when we go for players that have bigger clubs in for them? cant have it both ways.

P jewellisaGod,dont know about appeasing fans;but hope you will agree if we dont get anybody to reinforce back line then looks like I could be watching 1st Div football next season along with about 12/14000 others, will you be there?

Rossm added 14:09 - Jan 26
I think we Need a new back 4... Cresswell is a great little footballer and has a brilliant left peg... but the kid cant defend to save his life. the amount of times you see him back off and get skinned just isnt good enough! Sonko needs to be replaced first IMO though. Terrible Defender!
