Wallace Will Stay at Falkirk
Wallace Will Stay at Falkirk
Thursday, 26th Jan 2012 15:52

Falkirk defender Murray Wallace will return to his current club on loan for the remainder of the season whether he decides to join Town, Brighton or Huddersfield, the Bairns are reported to have confirmed.

All three clubs have agreed a fee of £300,000 plus add-ons with the Scottish League Division One side and are set to hold talks with the player.

Swansea, Charlton, Norwich and Newcastle are also understood to have been keeping tabs on the 19-year-old former Rangers trainee.

Meanwhile, boss Paul Jewell admits frustrations regarding the convoluted and slow nature of doing transfer business these days: “We’re against the clock now and I understand we need to bring players in to help the group we’ve got.

“I’m concerned, but it’s not like we’ve just decided last week that we need players. We’ve been trying really hard to bring people in, but transfers are so long and drawn out these days.

“They take up so much energy and, to be honest, include so much bull. I get really tired of it.”

Ok moaning about the state of the Transfer market but it's the same for all clubs, and dare I say it, there's plenty of movement elsewhere.

I'm sorry for PJ in a way, but have no such sympathy for Cleggy. Get the players PJ asks for if you have the backing of ME. Simple I would have thought.

This is just bloody stupid. wtf has this Club come to eh that it cant even sign (without a drawn out hooha) a young kid from a 2nd tier Scottish side.
We are a bloody joke of Club now!

Retro Blue what are you on about? Everyone moans when targeting old hasbeens and now looking to get some young, hungry players in you moan about that. The deal is a good one in my book as long as we sign another centre half who is ready from next week

RetroBlue - it's got nothing to do with Town not being capable of signing a Scottish Second Division kid. Evidently from what Falkirk are saying, he'll be going back to Scotland on loan regardless of who he joins.

what is the point of signing

It comes back to the same points that have been raised on here before. If we're looking at the lower leagues and the Scottish leagues then of course there's going to be plenty of interest from other clubs, we're all ploughing the same field. Why aren't we looking in the lower European divisions?

OK, granted we've had mixed success with foreign players over the years but I'm pretty sure it's easier to get a deal done, for less cash without running the risk of alerting all other clubs!

On another note, Appleton appears resigned to losing 2 or 3 players from Pompey in his latest press interview just now. Do or die Clegg!!

Hampstead Blue, Its all very well planning for the future... but you actually have to action a plan for it to bode well, no sign of that at this club!

Well, this player is the right age and if on a three and a half year deal, he could certainly be one for the future - but we need players NOW - not loaning them back.

I have no sympathy for Clegg and although I feel sorry for any manager having to rely on the CEO, I also have no sympathy for PJ who mess up big time with his transfers and failure to address key positions in the Summer. We are now at 'panic' time again - with just 5 days of the transfer window left!

PJ and Clegg out.

Another pointless signing and a waste of £300k

BlueArmy12 - what is the point of signing a young/promising player?! Are you for real?! We hardly need him this season, so let him continue his development ready for us in the summer!

We need defenders now before west ham coz if we don't get anyone in I fear a cricket score next Tuesday. Can see the point of looking to the future but surely now is more important at the mo.

This is desperation stakes for jewell and this is his mess he has created.

We sit here on a Thursday evening with 5 days of the window left and still no signings. If we are putting in decent offers for players who who dont want to come here that is a clear message to Evans. If jewell can't recruit then how can he retain his tenure.?

We either have a manager who can attract new players, if not then we need someone who can and who can get more out of the current crop of players we have.

Sick and tired of jewells excuses and what he said about Carson takes the p.

Jewell doesn't know what to do or where next to turn and at the moment is like a kid in a sweet shop wanting everything but leaving with nothing.

Leeds fans protested last week about Bates. It is getting to a point where people need to show what they think about both clegg and jewell.

Having new players won't cover over his managerial deficiencies, he had Collins and Andrews don't forget and still couldn't win.

He will take us down.

Agree with looking to the future, but we do need players now for today to get us away from the bottom of the Championship.
