Healy Rejoins Cork City
Healy Rejoins Cork City

Former Blue Colin Healy has rejoined his hometown club Cork City. The 31-year-old, who left Turners Cross for Portman Road for £70,000 in the summer of 2009, had his Blues contract terminated by mutual consent in November.

Cork manager Tommy Dunne said: “We are delighted that Colin is back at Cork City Football Club. He is obviously a very talented player with a wealth of experience at the very top level of football, and he will be an excellent addition to our side.

“He was an impressive performer in his previous spell with the club, and I am delighted that he has decided to come back home after a successful spell with Ipswich Town, and I am confident he will bring a lot to our squad.”

Healy added: “I am delighted to be back at Cork City. I know a lot of the players here from my previous spell at the club, and that will make it easy for me to settle in.

“Obviously I have worked with Tommy before, when Paul [Doolin] was here, and I am looking forward to doing so again. I just want to crack on now, get back training and start playing games again.”

Cork are also looking to sign another ex-Blue Shane O’Connor, although Shamrock Rovers, Dundalk and a couple of English clubs are also interested.

All the best colin. Good point dowson, I get sick of all the negative comments that appear after every news item. I am sure these people either support nodge or never go to games. Up the town. In jewell we trust.

Successful spell?!?

The only good thing he did for us(like priskin) was the arsenal game

Let's face it, we only bought him so that keane could help out his old mates when they were in crisis for cash. He was never a player that would ever shine at Championship level.

Having said that he always gave us his best effort and you can't ask more than that. If only other currently in the squad could follow his example.

I wish him well for the future.

My best wishes to Colin Healy too.
He did, of course, give rise to one of the wittiest comments in the last year, commenting on his performance against Arsenal:
"Colin Healy made Cesc Fabregas look like Colin Healy."
Masterful!

When PJ was appointed, I remember reading and laughing at the following comment 'Paul Jewell is an arm round the shoulder type of manager'. Well, I am afraid the traetment of Healy (Matain, O'Conner and Carson) completely blows that theory out of the water.

Disgraceful the way Healy was treated. PJ OUT.

Best of luck Colin - I bet you are pleased not to be involved with a manager as terrible as PJ any more.

Looking forward to seeing him ack in Cork colours, wasnt valued by Jewell this season after being solid enough last season when called on,would be still at Town if it wasnt for Jewell being so weak and a pathetic manager.
