Wallace at Town Today

TWTD understands that Falkirk central defender Murray Wallace will be at Portman Road for talks today, the Blues having agreed a fee of £300,000 plus add-ons for the 19-year-old last week. Chief scout Steve McCall and assistant manager Chris Hutchings were at Hampden Park yesterday to watch Wallace and the Bairns lose 3-1 in a Scottish Communities League Cup semi-final.

We understand that Murray flew south with the Town pair after the game and is holding talks regarding his proposed move at the club today.

The former Rangers trainee spoke with Brighton last week, the Seagulls and Huddersfield Town also having agreed terms with Falkirk which will see Wallace return to the Scottish League Division One side on loan for the remainder of the season whoever he chooses to join for the longer term.

No immediate use then. We must get in signings who can play next week!

Can't really get too excited when it's not a player who's going to help us get out of relegation danger immediately!

Can't we just sign him and play him?

While i agree i want players who can play tuesday. At least for once we seem to be planning for the future, players coming in the summer rather than running down contracts.

Hope he signs, can't moan about trying to sign one for the future, all for that. But have to agree with others surely signings that can play now are more important....

A decent enough prospect for the future if we get him. The Pompey trio are the most crucial signings we need to make however..

all good i think he will sign for us this is our future where ever we end up at the end of this season,if were in the championship he will have a good pre training with the lads and if div one though i for 1 dont think were doing any where near there he would be easily good enough for that league, hopefully hes ours by the end of the day

Positive news-
Does this mean that Clegg and the 'signing on team' are at Portman Road and not Fratton Park?

Don't know anything about the guy, so hopefully our scouting network has uncovered a defensive gem, when you think of some of the defenders to come out of Scotland, Hansen, Hendry and our own Johnny Wark (I know he was actually a midfielder but he could play at the back and in his third spell with u he actually played mainly at the back) However the deal doesn't benefit us now, with him staying on loan with Falkirk til the season but having said that we probably need a bit more experience right now to help us cut out our defensive errors, but good that we're finally looking to the future.

This lad sounds like a good prospect and I'm glad we're looking at young talent. However we are still in real trouble and need to sign an experienced Prem/championship Centre Back... I'm hoping we can pull of the deal with Pompey for Pearce and Ward, These 2 look like quality Championship players.

we must be planning for league 1... instead of getting out of this mess were in, play those young guys who clearly are hungry and want to play for town these lads are not afraid to sign for a club thats in a mess .they are used to a battle in the spl this league wont bother them get more scots in there not mad prices and will work there socks for you ,its roll up your sleeves time.. de vos and naylor we need you....

Noel can think of a lot worse than having hungry young players who are proud to wear the shirt and will work their socks off.........

We need a CB x 2 NOW! Wake up Jewell.

This guy may be okay for the future - although I thought he was poor yesterday.

Wasn't bad until the final goal yesterday when Hooper skinned him alive! Having said that, don't think Smith or Sonko would've done much better in the same situation. He's young and will get better with time and experience so I'd be happy if he signed.

Lets hope all this focus in Falkirk doesn't mean we've taken our eye off the ball at Fratton Park

Good for the future and surely he will be impressed with our ground, training facilities, management structure & the financial backing of Mr. Evans, compared to the competition. Hope stuff is going on at Fratton Park though and we get our men. Wonder if Mr. Norris is thinking that he should have stayed with us instead of chasing a 3 year deal at Pompey? Backfired on him a bit.

Has all the mannersims of Alan Hansen but did not play like him yesterday. Does not look to have much pace and was caught wanting on more than one occasion. Still he will be useful in Division One should the worst happen.

A flurry of interest in clubs north of the border, mustn't forget to turn round and look south to the channel coast - Portsmouth's fire sale is still on

just a day to go now, still no centre half signed who can actually play for us NOW!!! this really is getting ridiculous, I thought the PJ may have actually got someone in before the hammers game, I really fear the worst for tomorrow night, terrible management whatever the reasons for it!
