Sing a Song for Sereni
Friday, 26th Oct 2001 13:50

As you are no doubt aware, Radio Five Live are running a documentary at Ipswich throughout the season, and will be at the match on Sunday. They will be recording a feature on Matteo Sereni and hoping to catch us singing his songs for the programme on Monday.

One of the songs is to the tune of Can't Take My Eyes Off You used on the current BT advert and was written by three Town fans while away at Torpedo Moscow. Olly Magnus, Dan Lightfoot and Michael Solomon all came up with song that got an airing at the last home game when Rob Chandler played an incredibly old version of the song after visiting the TWTD Message Board. If you aren't sure of the words, here is the chorus:

Matteo Sereni
He comes from Italy
Matteo Sereni
Much better than Wrighty
Matteo Sereni
Tractor Boys number 1

The other song is to the tune One Man Went To Mow and the words are:

One man tried to beat, tried to beat Sereni,
One man tried but couldn't beat, Matteo Sereni.
Two men tried to beat, tried to beat Sereni,
Two men, one man tried but couldn't beat, Matteo Sereni
Eleven men tried to beat, tried to beat Sereni,
11 men, 10 men, 9 men, 8 men, 7 men, 6 men, 5 men, 4 men, 3 men, 2 men, 1 man tried but couldn't beat, Matteo Sereni.
SERENI...SERENI...SERENI...
