Bowyer Only Absentee for Boro Clash
Bowyer Only Absentee for Boro Clash
Thursday, 9th Feb 2012 13:56

Midfielder Lee Bowyer is Town’s only injury absentee for Saturday’s home game against Middlesbrough. The 35-year-old is back in training after his groin injury but is not yet ready to return to the squad.

Manager Paul Jewell said: “It’s been a difficult week training with the weather, but I’m sure we’re not unique in that. Lee’s had three or four days’ training so far this week.

“He’ll probably need another week training with the first team before he can be considered but other than Lee, everyone else is 100%.”

Jewell says Saturday will probably come a bit too early for new signing Ryan Stevenson, who played 70 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday, his first game since his last match for Hearts on December 17th.

No need to change anything until it breaks down again.

Totally agree Mulligan.

Still nervous at the back though. Would love to see another centre half added to the squad through the emergency loan system.

I am not sure about Bowyer. I am sure he killed Mikey in Beverleys Hills Cop.

Give Bowyer a chance to get fully fit. He will know that he owes something to us in some top performances before the season is over. Considering how Wark could make it as a central defender, maybe that is where Lee could fit?

A pointless PJ signing - will no doubt depart in the Summer.

I don't think Bowyer has actually been that bad, he's not exactly set the place alight but at least his performances haven't been as generally dismal as say the likes of Leadbitter, if he gets anymore game time between now and the end of the season and performs well then I'd like to see him offered a new one year contract as he is useful to have as a squad player.

@Garv who cares what he did last season? All I care is what he does for us and so far he has not been worth his huge paycheck

Would you rather we hadn't beaten West Ham then Jas, and lose to Leicester?

I was proving a point that he wasn't injury prone when we signed him. Obviously he's been out a lot this season but when fit he hasn't been that bad, but I wouldn't trust his legs to hold out next season.

Personally don't see the point in having both Grant Leadbitter & Jimmy Bullard on the bench. Makes sense to put Carson on the bench instead, surely?

Totally agree Carson is the future (I hope for us) and give him the ball and will start raking the back of the net COYB

"Lee who?" TimmyH... "pointless signing" -jas0999?
We'd have been bottom 3 by now without Bowyer. This player has held our crumbling performances together at times. S'pose you hated his crap goal v WHU too... idiots.
