50% Off for Rearranged Game
50% Off for Rearranged Game
Saturday, 11th Feb 2012 16:55

Town have confirmed that fans who had tickets for today’s abandoned match against Middlesbrough will be given 50% off the full price of a seat for the rearranged game.

Referee Dean Whitestone called this afternoon’s match off after 37 minutes with the pitch becoming more unplayable due to sub-zero temperatures as the game progressed.

The new date for the match is yet to be set.

Scuzzer - couldn't agree more. Don't think I'll return to Portman Rd again this season. What's the point. No promotion chance, no relegation to fight. Sod em. Why waste my money.

first of all ur a massive idiot legoman, how is this fair.
Cleggs whole attitude stinks, a decent chief exec would immediatly come out and say "look this isnt an ideal situation blah blah but we know the cost of travel ect for fans so we will give full refunds or tickets valid for next game".
he may well look at it in a week and do this but i doubt it and i dislike the bloke.
the club has made money from food, club shop and programme sales today that they will get again for the rematch.
most clubs try and help there fans yet it feels our board try and screw us over on most occasions.
Please dont any do gooders come on here and say they did reduce prices for this game because £25 is the top price we should have to pay anyway.

That is totally disgraceful. I was here in my house in France when all that was going down, but I can tell you for example that if I was in the cinema and the lights went out after 37 minutes, I wouldn't expect anything less than a full refund or a replacement ticket (my choice!). I don't care whether it's down to Ipswich or the FA, whoever says a ticket for the first game isn't valid for the second (for free!) is a total clown!

Bluedanw, listen we all love this club and clegg will take it down, i would never do anything to harm the club , my fathers ashes are buried pitchside by the dugouts, but i think the time has come for us all to make a stand, in the long run it will be for the good of the club, so i urge those who are not thinking of renewing to write and tell the club your feelings, i will be doing exactly that, would like to say nothing shocks me anymore, but i find the clubs attitude on this as shocking..coyb

Football League Regulations Section 5 Paragraph 27.3 states "Every Club must have a publicly stated policy regarding ticket refunds or other arrangements for abandoned Matches" ( http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulations/20110629/section-5-fixtures_2293633 It's up to the Club - policy should already be written down somewhere but nothing to stop the Club being generous.

Football League Finals only give 50% refund for matches abandoned after kick off - possible cause of confusion.

Just thought I'd clear that one up.

Marketing opportunity - existing tickets valid for rearranged game AND 50% off an extra ticket for each ticket held? Extra revenue + bigger crowd + more concession spending on the day! Everyone's a winner!

Some people are born to moan it seems.

This game was at a reduced price anyway, and the replay will be half that again - what, a tenner?

Besides, they may decide that it will be even less in the coming days.

Me - I'm ok as I'm a season ticket holder, but disappointed as I am, I'm realistic enough not to expect Town to pay me the diesel it took for the 220 mile round trip so I won't moan about it.

What Clegg? Not sure what the regs are but common sense says everyone with a ticket goes free. In my case though I'll be out if the country so I want the cash or a ticket for Pompey!!

The price will probably be 50% off full prices, not the promotional price, so the rearranged fixture will probably be more than £10. It's the principle of the matter that's important.

Seems some people are happy to be treated like dirt and suck it up.

I had a season ticket for 6 seasons before deciding to take playing Saturday football more seriously. My thinking being that when I'd stopped playing I'd have the rest of my life to watch town. I probably get to 4 or 5 games a season, normally mid-week games but this season I hadn't bothered as the standard of football on display and ticket prices didn't seem to offer value for money.

With my game being off today, buoyed by recent results and tempted by the price reduction I headed down to PR in the hope my love for regular match day action would be reignighted.

I have no complaints about the game being abandoned, although I have a small gripe that it should never had been played at all. The thing that really gets my goat is that I'm exactly the sort of punter ITFC are trying to get back on a regular basis by running these promotions but now I'm going to be left paying well over the odds to watch one competitive Championship game.

The whole thing has now left my desire to go back to PR on a regular basis at an all time low.

What i don't understand is what difference does it make if the game was cancelled before kick off and if the game lasted 74 mins? the game is null so the ticket should be good enough to use at the rearranged game. i don't expect them to pay out refunds or travel money. Just another example of us losing our family orientated club, with the decision to change kits every season maybe its time for Evans to sling his hook. i heard a rumour he tried to sell but was unsuccessful!

This is appalling PR from Mr Clegg, does he really live in the same world as the people he purports to represent? A 50% discount on the re-arranged game is nothing short of a disgrace. I feel sure the Cobbold's or Sheepy would have had no hesitation in offering re-admission for the re-arranged game, they may well both have been of “better stock” (particularly the Cobbolds) but they all had a feeling for the fans and knew what ITFC means to them. Although this does not affect me as I am a season ticket holder, I am ashamed that the club I love, should treat its own fans and the fans of Middlesbrough this way.

This is disgraceful I have a little boy, my grandad used to take me all the time to watch Ipswich play I feel I have now been scammed by my own club I doubt my little boy will get to experience what I used to as I feel robbed by this man called Simon clegg and I don't want to see it happen to my son in the future!

Another PR disaster from Clegg and Town. Today was supposed to be about bringing fans back by trialling cheaper tickets!!

AlanMahon2011 added 20:02 - Feb 11
Simon Clegg makes me sick to my stomach, try working working full time and being hard up then tell me "oh don't worry the tickets will be 50% cheaper next time".

Your a disgrace to this club.

I'm just back from the match as I live in Derbyshire. Agree with Scuzzer, the match is likely to be played mid-week which I will be unlikely to attend. So I will lose out on the £50 I paid for two tickets in the Sir Bobby Robson stand. Game should never have started if there was any doubt the pitch wouldn't last and I don't recall seeing anybody slipping over apart from Sonks and I don't think that was related to the pitch. Considering today was supposed to a PR excercise to encourage people back to Portman Road this is a PR disaster assuming they don't announce something else next week.

discraceful.

Football is eating itself.

Clegg/Evans take a large bite - its not us that have alowed wages to reach 98% of turnover.

I'm sure the club will eventually decide that they should be fair and let the Ipswich fans with a ticket in for free, after all we saved a good deal of cash in January!! Yes just charge the Boro fans, lol!!

In fact I've had another idea.....

I paid to watch a whole match today, by my (iffy) calculations I saw just over 41% of a match....nobodys fault....just the way it was, however, asking me to pay again to see what I have already paid for leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Tell you what, I want to be fair, so for old times sake I'll take a 50% refund (rather than 59%!) and find something else to do with my Saturdays....

you won't have to find somewhere to squeeze me in the ground, or sell me a balti pie, it will be one or two less tins of Adnams you need to put in the fridge, one less program to print, and my kids won't have to make excuses not to go with Dad....

For me it started in 1969, it may have just ended.
