Rose Malster has lost her battle to have the North Stand stopped. The Alderman Road resident was seeking to have the case taken to the European Court but Appeal Court judges refused permission for her to do this yesterday.

Malster lost an initial case to have planning permission overturned in August and this now marks an end to the unhappy resident's campaign against Ipswich Borough Council and the club. She argued that when planning permission was given the correct process was not followed.

David Sheepshanks, in Helsingborg with George Burley and the squad, said: "It is very good news that Ipswich Borough Council's original decision and protocol in terms of the way they have handled the application has been totally vindicated."
