Schrøder Moves Back to Norway on Loan
Schrøder Moves Back to Norway on Loan
Monday, 23rd Apr 2012 13:05

Academy central defender Nicolay Schrøder has joined hometown club Frigg Oslo on loan in order to get games under his belt after an injury-hit season with the Blues. The second-year scholar, who was with Frigg prior to joining Town, has had his time at Playford Road extended until January having missed much of the 2011/12 campaign due to tendinitis.

Football is played through the summer in Norway with Frigg in the Oddsenligaen, the Norwegian third tier.

Academy manager Sammy Morgan says the move is aimed at preparing 18-year-old Schrøder, who spent time in the Ridgeons League with Kirkley and Pakefield before Christmas, for his return to Town: “It’s a loan with a view to getting him match fit so he can look forward to a really good pre-season here. It’s a chance for him to go home and get some games under his belt.”

Meanwhile, Town’s U18s drew 1-1 at home to Watford on Saturday with Irish striker Carel Tiofack, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season, netting the Blues' goal. The U16s beat the same opposition 4-2.

Town's U18s complete their season's fixtures with a home match against Chelsea at Playford Road next Saturday.

Keep us posted Sindre. Good work.
(and can I just add that your passion, enthusiasm, and optimism for all things Ipswich is a breath of fresh air on this site. It's great to see).

As good as those players might be, Sindre...it would be tricky trying to sing their names....having said that someone managed a catchy little chant out of 'Boncho Guenchev' :-)

How optimistic are we that this lad has a bright future in the game?

Not optimistic at all. He might have a career in the lower leagues in Norway though.

Sindre, what about Vemund?
Seriously though, if these guys are any good that you mention maybe you should notify the club, you never know, we may just send a scout to Norway to have a look at some.

Dont think we will see Nicolay at Ipswich again.I think Paul Jewell is getting rid of all the youth players at Ipswich to replace them with older players to try and save his Job with Ipswich. Cant think of many Academy players left now, even the young players that have made a few games in the first team was to keep us off his back and make him look as if he has been listening to the supporters. More will be leaving for sure at the end of this season. Ipswich will struggle to get the players that we deserve at this club.Penny pinching management with no ambition but to just break even each year. I hope Nicolay makes good as i hope all the players who may leave make good.No prospects left for the youth at ipswich.
