Clegg Circulating TWTD Questionnaire
Clegg Circulating TWTD Questionnaire
Wednesday, 27th Jun 2012 22:21

Town chief executive Simon Clegg says he’ll be circulating the TWTD Questionnaire 2011/12 to all the club’s heads of department. The results of our annual survey, in which 2,200 supporters took part, were posted on the site last week.

Clegg said: “I always read the TWTD annual survey with interest. The fact that so many fans took the time and trouble to respond means that we have to take the points raised seriously, although I understand that we will never be able to please most of the fans most of the time, particularly after a disappointing season on the pitch.

“As always I circulate the results to all the heads of department to ensure that they are aware of the contents and can take these into account when making decisions on behalf of the business.

“I’m disappointed and concerned that 19% of respondents say that they never received a reply to correspondence to the club and this is certainly something which needs to be addressed going forward. Well done to TWTD for the depth of the survey and the number of respondents.”

It's good that the club take note of this. Hopefully they will pick up on fans' feelings about match tickets being too expensive and do something to encourage supporters back to Portman Road next season.

I look forward to Clegg telling Evans that 48% of TWTD survey takers think he is doing a below average job.

Another lick of paint on the turnstiles should keep us all happy for another season though! lol

Keith Chegwin has to be seen to take notice.... He would get (more) abuse if he didn't.

I hope the club actually does take it "on board" (especially ticket pricing as per Mark's comments)

I seem to remember that last season when there was a lot of criticism of Cleggy, PJ and Marcus Evans, he was "unaware" of the negative comments, suggesting that he didn't read or wasn't aware of the content on this site. Now, suddenly he always reads the survey and it is the best thing since sliced bread and is always circulated! New item on the menu on matchdays at PR next season - "PORKIE PIES"!

This response from Simon Clegg shows progress. Without the fans, the club would not function or exist. I think the penny had dropped.

Re the 'unaware of criticism' story, in SC's defence some quotes were taken rather out of context. After a survey in one of the papers said 80/90% of fans wanted him to go, he said something along the lines of being unaware of that type of feeling amongst fans from his recent meetings with various Supporters Club branches, not that he was unaware of criticism per se. Indeed, he'd made 'comes with the territory' type comments to me when I'd asked him questions along those lines.

'comes with the territory' if you are not performing well.

This is good from Clegg - showing he actually is interested in what the fans think.

This also shows how influential this site can be and how many town fans use it. I say Phil Ham for next CEO.

"Can't please most of the fans most of the time" seems a strange quote.

"we will never be able to please most of the fans most of the time".

What? Nice to see you setting your sights so high Simon.

@saffronblue

It makes more sense in context with the end of the sentence included.

"I understand that we will never be able to please most of the fans most of the time, particularly after a disappointing season on the pitch"

I doubt many fans were pleased at the performance of the team on the pitch, and that's probably the biggest factor in pleasing people.

I take it Clegg won't be showing the answers to the question about him to Marcus!

Phil

Thanks for the clarification. I suspect that like all of us, SC can develop selective hearing when people are saying things he doesn't want to hear. Made my day having you address a comment to me. Love the site and spend far too much time visiting it. Thanks for all your hard work!

Just been through Ipswich station on way back from London to Diss. Always look across at PR and smile, dreaming of what once was ....

The quote of can't please most of the fans most of the time does seem a bit odd.
In the business I'm in I want to please all of the people all of the time, you have to aim for that but it's never going to happen so you end up pleasing most of the people most of the time. If you only please some of the people some of the time you're not going to have a very good reputataion and end up failing.

This site is populated by sycophants and stooges, carrot-crunchers and cowpokes. Who the hell would want to know what they think?

I'd take more notice of a Family Fortunes survey.

I think its good Clegg has responded, I remember a time when TWTD was first launched when the club hated it with a passion so well done to all parties (including Phil who I think gets a bum deal on here) and lets hope Clegg isnt simply blowing smoke up our arses!
