Chambers Returns to Nottingham
Chambers Returns to Nottingham
Wednesday, 4th Jul 2012 08:20

Town target Luke Chambers is understood to have returned home to Nottingham last night having spent much of yesterday at Portman Road with his move to the Blues believed to be close to breaking down. The 26-year-old is thought to be weighing up various alternative options with Leeds and a number of other clubs also said to be interested.

Chambers underwent a medical and took a tour of the ground and training facilities yesterday but talks which continued well into the evening were unable to be concluded.

Blues boss Paul Jewell has Chambers well up his list of summer targets and it would be a huge blow to see the former Northampton man, a free agent since his Forest contract expired at the weekend, move elsewhere.

In addition to weekend links with Leeds, whose takeover is on the verge of being agreed, Chambers has previously been mentioned in connection with West Brom, Wigan and Leicester City.

If he signs then great otherwise i will believe the forest fans and consider it a lucky escape.

Should go for keough from Coventry who is a cracking defender. We are desperate for players though if we have realistic play off ambitions so it should be an interesting couple of weeks before the games in holland.

No surprise there then.
Lets face it we are at the lower end of attractions to a player in this league now.
Leeds,Cardiff,Forest and now Watford, all ambitious wealthy recent take overs, we will struggle again this season.
With PJ in charge the only way is down.

Don't worry Jewell is here for this season at worst. Clegg usefulness to the Owner has run its course so we should have replacements for both very soon.

If he doesn't sign we have to move on and look elsewhere. PJ will have other irons in the fire (I hope!)

The way some people are reacting already you'd think this guy was the best thing since Terry Butcher...but there are no guarantees he would have been the answer to our defensive frailties.

So, collective chins up folks and let's hope for better news soon.

If the fella has gone back to forrest then he wont be signing for us! Fact!
Clegg is an absolute joke.
Infact the whole set up it a joke!
People may slag Sheepshanks off but the bloke never let players walk away without getting him to sign.

Face it we are looking at mid to lower table yet again.

Unbelievable......... Something is VERY wrong. To go as far as having a medical means he must have been 99% sure so what went wrong????? It's a joke.

He could of been asking for stupid wages?

We did a championship prediction at work yesterday and most had us finishing 15th. That's how we are viewed by others at the moment and that opinion will not change over night. We will come good but patience is going to be needed

Arghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clegg I really really can't stand you you absolute waste of space! What is it you do that's so repulsive once you get the player into a room at Portman Road to completely ruin every transfer? Do you just have bad hygiene or is it something more complex???

Evans will you please rid us of the torch carrying, Guam loving buffoon and put somebody in who can actually bring players to the club please before we face yet another season of obscurity!!!

So we ll have to listen to the same old guff that we heard after most games last season post the first game of this one after Blackburn walk away with a 3-0 win.

What does Clegg actually do?

And to the mentions of a tent, have you never heard of a hotel?

I feared the worst last night when there was no news and Clegg was pissing about on BBC Look East with the Olympic torch in Peterborough!!!

We dont know what went on during the talks yesterday. The fact that they were here all day/evening and completed the medical means the club were very likely trying hard to get him. I'm sure they offered a very good deal + more.

If Chambers and his agent want more money than the club rate him at then sorry but adios Chambers. I'm glad the club are sticking to their guns. Scotland/ Edwards (I think) took pay cuts, it would be insulting to the these guys and the squad if they gave Chambers a wage outside the wage structure.

If Leeds, Watford, Forrest etc splash out on big wages than more fool them!!

What an absolute joke Evans and Clegg are, this is getting ridiculous...what is going on that is driving all these players anywhere but here? Sort it out!!!

Len_Brennan added 08:48 - Jul 4
Not good.
Presumably wages had already been discussed prior to the medical though. If Leeds or some other club come in at the last minute & offer him £3k a week more (or something like that) well of course he's going to consider it.
