New Signings, Martin, Cresswell and Delaney in Squad for Cambridge
New Signings, Martin, Cresswell and Delaney in Squad for Cambridge
Wednesday, 25th Jul 2012 14:38

New signings Scott Loach and Massimo Luongo are included in tonight’s squad for the friendly at Cambridge United (KO 7.45pm), along with Lee Martin who has missed out so far due to a thigh injury. Aaron Cresswell and Damien Delaney are both in the squad despite being linked with moves to Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest respectively.

Martin told the club website that he has sat out the games up to now as a precaution: "I had a minor problem with my thigh, which forced me to miss the two games out in Holland.

"There was no point in risking it and making things worse. It just needed time to settle down."

Midfielder Ryan Stevenson is over his hamstring injury and is included in the party travelling to the Abbey Stadium.

Trialist winger Plaisir Bahamboula is not included and may well have left the club, while goalkeeper Marian Kello, who was with the Blues in Holland, is understood to have moved on after his scheduled week with Town.

Town: Ainsley, Chambers, Chopra, Cresswell, Delaney, Drury, Edwards, Emmanuel-Thomas, Hyam, Lawrence, Lee-Barrett, Loach, Luongo, Martin, Scotland, Stevenson, Thorsteinsson, Whight.

Phil - if Stevenson remains out of action - why is he in the squad? Schoolboy error?

Phil has amended the article to add Chopra being injured and to remove the fact that Stevenson isn't!

I've heard rumours that the real reason is that Chopras doing a Playboy photo shoot.

Ronan Murray?? Wiyh Chops out why is he not getting a chance?? Its not like we have loads of strikers. Find this a bit strange.

When I read it the Chopra piece was already in there, all Phil did was to take the Stevenson part out. Which as I look has now been edited again for a third time.

@irishtim I agree with you! Its not like we have loads of strikers especially with Ellington being so poor. Give young ronan a chance

@Alf. Calm down. Phil works 24/7 to make sure us fans get these sorts of stories as soon as possible. Give him a break man he puts a lot of work into the site and does a great job.

@ChrisMakin2012. Its not just that im irish or anything but if the lad is ti improve this is the kind of game to play him in.Looking at the squad for the game, wedont seem to have strikers bar scotland. Correct me if im wrong.

Plus just wanted to say that I think it's a shame that it looks a though Bahamboula hasn't done enough to earn himself a contract. I was quite hopeful after the first Dutch game against Helmond Sport.

Yeah- Phil sets really high editorial standards on here- bit harsh to jump on the odd one that slips through- particularly as I assume he edits his own work, mostly.
The standard of writing skills for a decent percentage of those who comment is far more of a worry! Not that I'd discourage those with low writing confidence from voicing opinions, of course.

@kozmik. Yes good point. Seems to get a few goals. These are the games to give the young lads a go,even off the bench.

Sorry but the vast majority of journalists are rubbish at spelling, irrespective of who they work for!
