Ellington and Kourouma in Squad for Sudbury
Ellington and Kourouma in Squad for Sudbury
Wednesday, 1st Aug 2012 14:57

Town have confirmed that Nathan Ellington, Cheick Kourouma, Arran Lee-Barrett, Jaime Peters, Ronan Murray and Jack Ainsley are in the squad for tonight’s reserves friendly at AFC Sudbury (KO 7.45pm). Also included is 16-year-old Byron Lawrence, while fellow first-year scholar Michael Crowe, a Norwegian who joined the club over the summer from IK Start and who played in this afternoon's U18s friendly against Leyton Orient, travels as sub keeper and may get a run out at some stage.

Despite the lack of first team involvement, manager Paul Jewell says he and his coaching staff will be at the game: “We’ll all be there at the match to watch it and support the players, and AFC Sudbury as well because it’s important that as the main football club in the area we’re seen to support the local football.

“That’s one of the reasons we’ve entered the Suffolk Premier Cup and they’re always good tests.”

Squad: Lee-Barrett, Crowe, Peters, Ainsley, Whight, October, Hammond, Thorsteinsson, Kourouma, Lawrence, Timlin, Burke, Ellington, Murray.

I wonder how well this team of fringe players and try hards would do against the higher paid "better" players...

...well in all honesty they would probably lose heavily, but it would be great to watch.

Sindre94- Completely agree with the line up, exactly what i would say as well as a striker to warm the bench as were a bit short in that area, though getting the players it sounds like a right struggle at present. As for the game hopefully a few lads will impress tonight and give Jewell something to think about for the coming season,In particular Kourouma.

I think Sindre's team is his first 11 for the season, not necessarily for the next friendly. Obviously Carlos will be RB until pushed out by Elliott - at which point surely Carlos deserves a place int he middle three beside JET and Martin.

I would personally trust Tommy Smith enough to put his name in ink beside chambers and give them a good crack - HOPEFULLY after a game or three our back five will be fixed and solid. (Assuming Loach gains confidence quickly and performs well)

that just leaves the defensive midfield berth which Hyam COULD grow into as he matures, but I guess I would give it to Andy Drury initially

Loach
Elliott Chambers Smith Cresswell

Drury Luongo

Edwards JET Martin

Chopra

I THINK that is about as good as we can get with what we have - and I honestly believe that with good solid and consistent training and performances this team can AND SHOULD do well in this league.

But does "CAN AND SHOULD" mean "WILL" ?? Roll on the first game !!!

Yeah, our optimal team without injuries.

Its our strength in depth thats the big worry. A couple of injuries to key players & it could be a long season. Hopefully a few more signings in the near future.

Am I just being stupid or has Crowe now been named in two squads in one day? How does that work?

Well I've just seen picture of ME and he looks exactly like my postman!!

No wonder he wanted to keep a low profile!!

Good if the boy plays in goal and who knows could be our No 3 for the season.

God we need more players though, I love pj for the fact that after last nights defeat at Southend we were basically rubbish!! Altho as its HIS squad hardly a ringing endorement of him as manager.

@cooper4england. Fair enough. Does anyone have any updates on the match? Would be much appreciated, so long as I don't hear we're losing 2-0 like yesterday.
