Target Davies Close to Bristol City Move
Sunday, 19th Aug 2012 19:20

Derby striker Steve Davies, a Town target all summer, is reported to be holding talks with Bristol City, a fee believed to be £600,000 having been agreed between the clubs, while the player himself has tweeted that developments on his situation are likely to take place on Monday.

The Robins were previously reported to be talking to Davies, who is believed to have been the subject of the bid Town had rejected at the end of last week, in late July when manager Derek McInnes denied having any interest in the 24-year-old.

After a report claimed Davies was set for talks with City this evening, the player tweeted: "Big day ahead tomorrow. Time for bed. More info [for] you tomorrow."

The Blues have been after Davies since May but have so far been unable to agree a fee with the Rams, who are understood to want £1 million for the former Tranmere man.

Hmm, i don't see how Bristol City have that money but if they do, then why can't we just offer them 1 mil? Just worried that if he does join, the injuries he may pick up...

Hey ho. Thought he wanted to move South or family reasons, but appears to be happy to head to the West Country? Just as far to London from Bristol as it is from Derby and the joys of the M4...... Good luck and good riddance if you can't be honest with yourself!

If we want him that bad I would think we would just match any bid should it be accepted, unless of course its silly money.
So bluey 123 you think Davies is a player with ambition? If he ends up here I'm sure you will change your tune

I heard from a good source he will be coming here and that we have agreed a fee around our valuation but with add ons which could take it up to 850k

If we need a striker and Davis is too expensive then why have we not gone for Jewells second target
What has happened to Edu and Wilson

If these are the 3 players we need to take us up then why have we not got it sorted

Cant believe some people commenting on here, its not his fault either we're bidding too low or derby are asking too much. if a club accepts an offer theres not much else you can do as a player other than refuse to go which will end in him staying at derby and not getting the move he's after. personally think derby are over evaluating him for someone who has had many injuries and only has a year left on his contract

I am now getting to the point of finding a darkened room to lie down in for the next 9 months or so!

Yes, if this bloke really can't make up his mind, then he's not the player for us. There are certainly question marks regarding his fitness etc., we don't need to find question marks concerning his commitment.

However, if I am off target with the above, I am now getting very very worried indeed when I keep reading of these links that we can't compete for against the likes of Bristol City, Huddersfield et al.

Ah well, good start yesterday, lets just hope that if we have to settle for lower table mediocrity yet again, we at least achieve if with the same sort of enthusiasm and entertainment shown against Blackburn.

If he is in talks with BC tonight your source must be way off beam . If he was going to come here as your source suggests ( with fee agreed ) surely he would not be talking to them ?

went saturday enjoyed our energy levels but we are going to come up well short without at least probably 2 more strikers as chops on his own in the 4 3 2 1 is to far away from anyone, and im a supporter of scotland but hes an impact player doesent have many if any 90 minutes in him but still a dangerouse player,we need some one soon

If its true and we cannot compete with the likes of Bristol City then we have serious problems at PR!

We offered an amount Thursday and it was accepted but we want to base 30% of it on appearances and derby won't have it.

No one holds talks on a Sunday evening!!!

Phil's report says he is 'reported to be holding talks' and probably is a load of tosh

This story has dragged on like the Joel Ward saga at Portsmouth and look what happened with that one. John Percy - looks like he works for the Telegraph so this could be another case of lazy journalism. McInnes at Bristol City was adamant last week that he had no intention of signing Davies. I would love it if Derby fell flat on their faces with this one as they are playing a dangerous game by holding out for more than the player is worth. Davies will go before the end of window I'm sure, but I suspect it won't be for £1m.

the only thing slower than this story is this revamped site ,[i hate it, its not a patch on old one and sssssoooo sssllloooooooow] If PJ says he is confident of signing a player who then signs for another club 3 days later there must be something very wrong .
