Motherwell Boss Confirms Stevenson Interest
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012 01:29

Motherwell boss Stuart McCall has confirmed his interest in Blues midfielder Ryan Stevenson. The 28-year-old is understood to have been in talks with the SPL club for much of Wednesday.

McCall said: “He’s a player we’re interested in but I’m sure there are a few interested in him.”

A Bradford player during Blues manager Paul Jewell's time in charge at Valley Parade, McCall is currently in Spain ahead of his side’s Europa League tie with Levante, something he hopes won’t damage his chances of signing the former Hearts, Ayr and St Johnstone man: “I just hope us being in Spain isn’t a problem.”

Stevenson, who Scottish reports claim has had his Town contract torn up in order to facilitate his exit, is understood to want to move on to play more regularly.

Whether the Blues would be willing to allow Stevenson to leave what is currently a small squad now that the move for the two Peterborough players — in particular George Boyd — has broken down remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Blues loan target Daryl Murphy was an unused sub as Celtic beat Town's one-time UEFA Cup opponents Helsingborgs IF 2-0 at Parkhead on Wednesday evening and 4-0 on aggregate in a Champions League play-off.

Can someone buy Cleggy a new A4 binder? There's clearly not enough room for new contracts in the one he's using at the moment, and he's so desperate he's been tearing up contracts for the past month...

What a mess we're in! The boy clearly wants to go home to Scotland but, unless a few miracles occur in the next 40 hours, we need him to bulk out the squad. We're a few injuries away from a disaster - Jewell & Hutchings might have to dig their playing boots out. Hate to see my beloved club in such dire straits.

Not sure why Clegg gets blamed every time a deal falls through.

We don't know the facts , the Posh pair may have wanted a contract which far above what the club is willing to pay.

We went down this road once before and ended up in adminastration, they are not Prem class just ordinary Championship players so why pay a arm and a leg for them

If they want a 3 year contract on 12k plus the fee that around 6 million

Top comment Karlos. Whatever anyone says, Clegg is a professional and is just as desperate for success as the rest of us. We don't want another Bulllard saga though - paying through the teeth for a benchwarmer. There is still time and, personally, I'd like a situation where players like Hyam and Carson get a good long run in the side.

In for kirk broadfoot, would be a great signing in defence, and a free.

This seems a very strange one to me, said all the right things when he arrived, came with half decent performances from Hearts, yet never really given a fair crack. Maybe there are things going on that we don't know about??
