Wright Set for Premier League Champions
Wright Set for Premier League Champions
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012 14:11

Former Blue Richard Wright is close to joining Premier League champions Manchester City on a one-year deal as their third-choice keeper. The 34-year-old is understood to be undergoing a medical at Eastlands.

Wright, who was released by the Blues at the end of last season, left Preston just days after joining the League One side earlier in the summer having been unable to settle in the North-West.

So he struggles to settle in the North West but can easily settle in the north west with Man City haha. Makes sense I spose.

Last time I looked, Manchester was in the North West...

Wonder if he will settle?

Thought he left Preston because it was too far from his family? Don't tell me even our own Richard Wright is just another money grabber like the rest?!

Was great when we got to the prem but if true this really sums him up. Content to bench warm for most of his career and pick up his cheques. You could have done so much more Wrighty. Still, if he is happy who am i to judge.

Oh come your 35 years-old thinking your best days are behind you. Then someone comes to you with a MASSIVE wad of cash an says we will pay you to do absolutely nothing, none of us would say no surely. Fair play to him, I'd be "unhappy" t'up north for one season for a comfortable retirement.

Michael11 - Please tell me your joking?! This is the same devout town fan & player that twice chose to sit on the bench taking prem money instead of coming back to play for us! He only re joined us as nobody else wanted him!!!

makes little sense, the only thing i can think is... as their 3rd choice keeper he won't have to live up there, just has to keep himself fit, then if one of the top 2 goes down, they're covered, gets round the transfer window for relatively low cost, wouldn't be surprised to see him being loaned out to a club down this way very soon

Always been far too happy being a bench warmer. Preston fans must be pretty hacked off.
I wonder if Mancini knows about this? Maybe it's Brian Marwood's little joke

Is it April Fools Day? This has made my day!!!!!

But in all seriousness their last 3rd choice GK was Stuart Taylor who I'd say Wrighty is better than so from their point of view it's an improvement!!!!!!

Clearly still got England aspirations the old boy!

Still the best English goalkeeper who's still playing (though that's saying very little because the others are atrocious ... Joe Hart? Wouldn't even have been 10th choice 40 years ago.)

Oh come on folks, Preston or Man City....if the league champions came in for you you'd have to say yes, good luck Wrighty, you'll always be a number 1 for me, some of the 'toss pot' comments on here make you sick. Wright is better than ALB and Loach and should not have been let go...end of!
