Murphy Completes Loan Move
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012 18:44

Daryl Murphy has rejoined the Blues for his third loan spell at Portman Road. The Celtic man will be with Town until the end of the season, when his contract at Parkhead is up.

Murphy said: “I’m delighted to be back at Ipswich. All over the summer I was hoping something would get sorted for me to come back here and thankfully that has happened now.

“I’ve had a long summer break, around eight or nine weeks, but I’ve kept myself ticking over fitness wise and I’m feeling good.

“I'll train with the boys tomorrow, get to know a few of the new faces in the camp and if the manager selects me for the weekend then I’ll be more than ready to get started straight away.”

Capped nine times by Ireland without scoring, Murphy made 32 starts and two sub appearances for Town last season, almost all at left midfield and netted four goals.

He was previously with the Blues during the second half of the 2009/10 season when he scored six goals in 18 appearances. While with hometown club Waterford United, Murphy spent several spells on trial at Portman Road during the 2004/05 campaign but eventually opted to join Premier League Sunderland.

Yes at last - thought nobody was listening to me. Mind you the speed this has taken it'll be the January window before we get anyone else! I know we need to keep to the fair play rules but fair play to the supporters too we're the ones who cough up to watch games and we deserve some return on our inestment as well.

Great to have you back, our goalkeepers now have someone to aim the ball for, that can win it in the air.

A bit of a safe option really , especially as no one else was after him , so even we couldn't mess up negotiations .

He'll do a steady job , I'd prefer him to be played in his more favoured position up front , rather than wide , then we might get more than his 4 goal contribution last year .

At last, some good news. Even Clegg couldn't bollocks this one up!
Now Get going on a replacement for Delaney - get the Posh boys back on track - or get going on new faces as the clock is ticking!
