Boyd Rumoured to Be Back in Talks
Friday, 31st Aug 2012 10:24

Blues target George Boyd is rumoured to be back in talks with Town regarding his move from Peterborough, according to a report from the Cambridgeshire media.

Last night it looked like the deal for the 26-year-old was dead with Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony saying that the player “feels it’s not the right move for him” after he failed to agree personal terms having been at Portman Road on Wednesday.

However, we understand that the former Stevenage man was keen on the switch in principle but with the significant distance between the wages on offer at Town and the figure he was anticipating the sticking point.

Last night, Boyd’s Posh team-mate Paul Taylor joined the Blues on a three-year deal for a fee now believed to be an initial £1.5 million rising to £2.5 million after the usual milestone clauses.

Go get him, but don't break the bank. I still feel confident on this after Taylor signed.

I'm not sure about this, seems like he's really pushing for more money here. Whilst i believe he would be a good signing, he's not exactly chomping at the bit to sign for us is he.

We'll have to wait and see.

How are we going to fit in all these midfielders (and in particular left midfielders)?

I want CB news and nothing else will satisfy me :-)

Not overwhelmed as he will come because no one else has matched the asking price and therefore no one can offer the salary package he requires. In other words Posh or us - well there is no comparison. Will obviously welcome him if he does come just hope he will be better than when at Forest. WE NEED A CENTRE BACK BEFORE NOON PLEASE

I'm really pleased with the signing of Taylor, and am hopeful over Boyd too (although I'm not certain of anything at the moment).
I can't help thinking though that if we have over 1.5 million to splash on players, then why couldn't we tie up a deal for Davies sooner or get Murphy in earlier?
I also thought that Sam Baldock would have been a good buy, but at the time assumed we didn't have enough money, which obviously wasn't the case.
Oh well. No point in dwelling on what could have been.
COYB!!!

Don't break the bank for him - Hamill or judge just as good if not better options and cheaper(?). Bramble is unfortunately just what we need and him and St. ledger and a quality wide man would give us a good look about us imo. 4 4 2 with Martin wide right giving Edwards some cover for once!!

Have a feeling if Boyd comes in Martin might be going out though?

I can't help but wonder who we could of signed this summer if Evans didn't take so long to realise we actually have to spend money, Lansbury and Maynard would of been nice! Also there are so many decent players on free transfers at the moment can't believe we haven't looked at that
