Edwards a Big Doubt for Huddersfield Clash But New Boys in Squad
Friday, 31st Aug 2012 13:35

Skipper Carlos Edwards is a big doubt ahead of Saturday’s home game against Huddersfield due to the groin injury he suffered at Carlisle on Tuesday. Blues boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that all three new signings will be in the squad.

Josh Carson and Luke Hyam are over hamstring problems but Jewell says Edwards is still a serious concern: “Josh is OK. Luke’s trained with the physio all week and hopefully will be OK for tomorrow. But Carlos is a major doubt.”

Jack Ainsley looks set to deputise for the Trinidadian, while summer signing Elliott Hewitt is back in first team training but is a few weeks off first team football after his hip impingement operations.

The Town manager confirmed that his new signings would be involved against the Terriers: “Paul Taylor played on Tuesday night against Reading, so he’s fit. Daryl Murphy’s trained this morning and looks in good condition and was on the bench for Celtic the other night.

“Guirane N’Daw probably needs a bit of work. He’s done a pre-season at St Etienne but not to the levels that we’re at, so he needs a little bit of work. He’ll be in the squad, but whether he starts or not is another thing.”

Could have done with another CB to allow Chambers to move over to Right Back

I think deep down he is glad he is missing the game cus i expect us to get another hammering, even though rhodes has gone.

Well, looked at the club site. If Edwards is not fit then the only defenders in our squad not playing are Whight & Hewitt.

Let's be careful out there.

So has Lee Martin signed a new contract or if not, what is the latest position.

I cannot believe PJ is thinking loans are the way forward. He has had all summer to assemble a squad together but for whatever reasons, he has failed to purchase the neccessary players.

In all my posts, i have said that defence is the key. The simple fact is that we have no defence. Any injury to the players we have (and it looks like Edwards is injured) leaves us dreadfully exposed. Their are plenty of free players out there - Gabbidon for example. Pick up the phone and make some calls PJ - afterall "it is good to talk".

Ainsley .... dear me....... Smith...... god help us......

Put N'daw in a central midfield 3. He may not be fit but at least he is a big roundabout to get round before their attack gets to "what do I do next" Smith. Play Murphy wide right and tell him to kick anything that moves towards Ainsley because Ainsly won't stop them.

Do a Spain and play 4 - 6 - 0. Not in the Spain attacking sense but in the Scotland defend at all costs tactical play book.

Can N'Daw play at right back? Looks like we are about to find out.

Edwards is a massive loss. Ainsley is a worry if we're being honest.

Team and in particular formation will be very interesting. 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2?

Great to see the support for our young players. Get them in there give them a chance and let them progress, some of you should hold your heads in shame!

may i ask where this leaves lee martin? it sounds obvious it will be taylor upfront with chops and murphy will play on the left i guess, so where does lee martin play? because with taylor there we dont need martin in the free role

Luke95 Lets just hope that Lee Martin plays wide right and that Jet is finally dropped after his dismal performances this season.

I actually believe Martin can do well on the right side, left wing just doesn't suit him.

Wouldn't be totally against this as JET doesn't seem to be on form...

Loach
Edwards Chambers Smith Cresswell
Martin Luongo Hyam Taylor
Murphy Chopra

I like the idea of Murphy and Taylor swapping roles throughout the game as both can play both positions.

But still think we would struggle without Martin harassing defenders through the middle. 4-2-3-1 is perfect in that respect but then chops is isolated. Will be interesting to see Jewell sees it.

Ainsley was voted man of the match on here the other night. Give the lad a break.

Trouble is it is the same so called fans who were calling for the young players to be given their chance who are now calling for them to be left out as they are not good enough.

Give Ainsley a chance. He looked better than everyones favourite 'Cressy' the other night.

3-1 to the Blues with Taylor getting his first goal for the club.

Players like AINSLEY who have only played a handful of games in two seasons need the full support of the town supporters! Hes a decent player and it doesnt help with the added pressure put on by you lot!! Its only a handful of you that like to have a moan but remember EDWARDS aint perfect!!! GOOD LUCK TODAY JACK!!
