Kourouma News Monday
Saturday, 1st Sep 2012 17:40

Town continue to wait for confirmation that French midfielder Cheick Kourouma’s move to Portman Road has gone through but are confident that they will get positive news from the football authorities regarding the switch on Monday. Meanwhile, manager Paul Jewell has dismissed claims that a loan deal for Peterborough’s George Boyd is already in place.

The red tape relating to the 20-year-old’s former clubs was finally resolved yesterday and he put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the club subsequently completing the additional paperwork.

Jewell says national radio reports this lunchtime that a loan deal is already in place with Peterborough for target George Boyd were incorrect: “We like George Boyd, we think he’s a good player, but there’s nothing in place to take him on loan. It might happen but there’s nothing in place.”

Barry Fry on RS at lunchtime, practically said "come and get him" in terms of loan leading to permanent deal - clearly a deal to be done there if we get the issues over personal terms ironed out

The only thing remarlable about him is the time and trouble it has taken to sign him. Like JP.

I wonder if there have been any developments today with our attempts to sign Kourouma?

Apologies if this has already been mentioned or discussed but I'm trying to understand something about our attempts to sign him and reference to trying to get the deal wrapped up before last Friday's closure of the transfer window.

Whilst I get that we're trying to get sign off from all his previous clubs that they will not come chasing us for development compensation I wondered why it was said that he had to of signed for us before the end of the current transfer window?

Surely he doesn't have a current club? Therefore he's an out of contract free agent and I thought that free agents could sign for clubs at any time or perhaps I'm completely wrong here and free agents are still restricted by having to sign for clubs before the closure of the transfer window?
