Peters on Trial at Leyton Orient
Wednesday, 5th Sep 2012 16:16

Former Blue Jaime Peters is on trial with League One side Leyton Orient and scored for their reserves in a 3-1 victory at Peterborough United yesterday.

The 25-year-old Canadian international's Town contract was terminated by mutual consent last month.

Meanwhile, Ryan Stevenson, who rejoined Hearts from Town last week on a free transfer, says he got a good reception from Jambos fans at the weekend despite his January exit in the wake of his strike after the club failed to pay him: “A lot of people would not have expected to see me back at Hearts and I really didn’t think I would be back after the way things ended the last time.

“I thought Sunday would be a difficult day for me but the reception from the fans was positive right from the start.

“I really enjoyed myself but obviously I was more than a little bit disappointed we didn’t get the win we deserved.

“I want the fans to stick with me now. I’m back on a long-term deal at the club and the supporters know I will give everything for the jersey.”

The midfielder says the Championship and SPL are of similar standards: “The football down there was good. We were going to different grounds every week and it was a great place to be at.

“Ipswich are a club with a proud history and a lot of tradition but standard-wise the Championship is no better than the SPL. A lot of people get the wool pulled over their eyes because it is England."

Elsewhere, ex-Blues keeper Cody Cropper, who signed a two-year pro deal with Southampton on deadline day after impressing while on trial, says he's delighted to be a Saint: "It feels great. It was nerve-racking to come down to a Premier League club having been at a Championship club before that, but I think it's a great opportunity to me.

"There are a lot of good guys here, and it's place that I can kick on and develop my career so I'm looking forward to it.

"A lot of it comes down to not only me but [coaches] Martin [Hunter] and Vince [Bartram] for seeing something in me to help develop so I can maybe push on into the first team or out on loan."

US U20 international Cropper was released by the Blues at the end of last season.

Good luck Jamie, you deserve better than how you've been treated by town, you were brilliant against Arsenal!

Good Luck Jaime!

Got a feeling that Cody Cropper will be another one we should have kept!

Best of luck to Jaime...he never did get much of a chance under PJ. Thought he deserved a few games to prove himself as a viable option on the wing...especially as Leadboots got game after game.

If Cropper makes a name for himself at Southampton then Jewell will look a bit silly. But maybe they just took a gamble on him..we'll only know in time.

Stevenson gobbing off about Championship/SPL standards. How many games did he get for us in the Championship?

Unfortunately Ross, owner performance is not enough. He didn't cut the mustard, he's gone, right or wrong, that's how football works.

I'm glad Peters has found somewhere and I hope his trial goes OK. But please no more stories about him from now on. Its not that I am not interested in ex-players, its the fact that after all these years people still spell his name wrong!

Its JAIME !!!!!!

Stevenson was a success in the SPL and a flop in the Championship, so that doesn't support him saying they are the same standard. Many of the games up there get attendances of around 4,000!

..... 'a lot of people get the wool pulled over there eyes because it's England' - absolutely right Ryan Stevenson, and I agree that the Championship is of a similar standard to the SPL.

Good Luck to all three players at there respective Clubs - non of which had a fair deal with us.
If your face fits you're ok - not - and you're out.
Plenty of evidence of that, sad to say.

Unfortunately having Arshavin in his back pocket wernt that hard when he was at Arsenal!!

Saying that, the boy always gave 100% and I really hope it works out for him. I had a soft spot for Jaime when he first came and its sad it never worked out, but thats football.

'Jaime' is usually pronounced 'Hi-Mee' in North America. I can understand why he prefers to call himslef 'Jay-Mee', but then of course he goes and get us all confused.

Usual rubbish on here . Peters was not used by 4 different managers ,how can his face not fit with 4 different people - the reason he doesnt have a position and is not good enough ?
Cropper has been signed by Saints as a third choice keeper if he is happy with that at at 20 years old and the saints can afford 3 or more keepers good luck to him he would certainly not be above Loach or ALB here and we dont need 3 unless of injury where you have emergency loan
Stevenson filled a gap last year but we now have better simple as ,least he has the pride to go and play somewhere else rather than collect his money for doing nothing
