Kourouma News Next Week
Thursday, 6th Sep 2012 16:25

Midfielder Cheick Kourouma says his move to the Blues should be confirmed next week.

The 20-year-old has been training with Town all summer but he had been prevented from signing his one-year deal by red tape relating to his former clubs until Friday with the club still waiting for confirmation that it went through in time and that all was in order.

The French-Guinean, who has been back in France for the last few days, said on Twitter that he expects to formally be a Town player soon: "I think it will be early next week."

Kourouma has been sidelined with a knee injury in recent weeks.

What a long roll of red tape. Welcome to the club. Respect how you kept in there.

You have to give this guy a lot of credit. He took himself off to France to sort it out. I understand that he's not getting paid at present and I suppose thats motivation enough to get it sorted but many other prima donnas would have sat back and let the club do the work. The fact he did it also indicates that he really wants to play for us.I hope he makes the grade with us since I have no idea of whats he's like

I'm not interested to be honest...
I want defenders and good ones.

Good to see we have a new photo of him. The signing saga has taken so long he has grown up so much that the other photo now doesn't look anything like him!

-2 for saying that i'm not interested in this player as it doesn't solve our immediate problem?
Bit weird!

Surely the fact we've been leaking goals for the last 2 and a half years at a heavy rate is justification enough for a comment about defence over a midfield prospect?

Fair play to the lad for hanging in there. In the brief match time he played that I saw, thought he showed a bit of promise. Glides along the ground and looks quite quick. Well done Sally Webbe for sifting through all the red tape.

@Keaneish. Respect your point re Our Shocking Defending. Almost a decade of it in one sense as it has been a long term project. I just think this lad deserves a pat on the back for hanging in there. Whether he is going to be a prospest? I dont know. I just like a guy who trys & Wants to play for us. Sorry for giving you a minus.

Irrespective of whether he makes it or not, I hope is debut is at Portman Road as a substitute so gets a big cheer all to himself.

Credit to him for his commitment, especially as it's only a year, he must be dead keen to prove himself. Hope it works out for him.

What the hell is the headline to do with the defense keanish?

Keanish .... it clearly says keep comments on topic. respect to the guy, what a refreshing attitude as opposed to some others we have tried to get in. You say you are not interested then why read it and leave a negative comment. We all know we need cb's and we all cheick to see if there is any news regarding possible signings of a defensive nature, so no need to state the obvious on an unrelated post.

thats the reason for your negative mark's .

I would be gutted if this transfer didnt go through because of an admin error or something, havent seen him play and dont know a lot about him, but he has shown a great attitude in trying to get through the extensive red tape which had been preventing the transfer, and the initiative he showed by going back to france himself to make sure his old clubs would give him the clearance he needed indicates a maturity beyond his years and a clear desire to play for the town. Best of luck Cheick!

WTF!!! Another week!! Transfer deadline ended nearly a week ago!! Again...how long does it take to work out if any of his former clubs are owed money??!!

Hats off to the lad but makes me wonder how bothered pj is whether he signs or not.

And when are we going to hear about all these loan defenders pj had lined up when he agreed the Delaney departure!! Things need to happen pretty damn quick!!

You so called fans will never ever be happy! He's a talented young player, desperate to play for us and most of you are moaning. It'll take as long as it takes, this is real life and not Football Manager. Start supporting the team.

SeasonTKT, I do support my team, thats why I am so concerned that we are still to sign all these loan defenders we keep hearing about and have needed for at least 2 years.

How do you know this lad is so good and talented?? Have you seen him play any high enough standard apart from a tinpot freindly??

I want the lad to be a success and succeed as much as you do, I just dont want to be waiting until I retire.

so theres a saga over him sighning and a saga wondering if he has sighned i dont get this club anymore whats going on

Talbs77 added 20:21 - Sep 6
oscarwhiting I couldnt agree with you more, I rarely go negative and criticise for no reason but the club have had this week and next week to get someone (or 2 preferably) centre backs in and we hear nothing!!! Its just crazy!! They will wait until were in the warm brown stuff and then panic.

It should never have come to us scrabing around the loan market for a centre back for 3 months. This should have been sorted at the the start of the summer.

Sorry to go on but so frustrated.

The comment is on topic! The comment is on players coming into the club, on transfers dealings so posts questioning that are nonsense.

By all accounts from post on pre-season games this lad isn't ready fort he first team, so those comments saying he's good need justifying.

The point is, i want us to solve our problems. We have Hyam, Luongo and now this guy for our midfield plus Drury and N'daw. For those minus posting me - wind your necks in! How does this solve our problems when out of 5 midfielders none of them equate to over 100 championship games between them...

It's very relevant and very on topic...Dissboy! Response please.

Have to agree totally with Talbs77 on this occasion. The list EADt came up with today didn't inspire confidence either, the shortness of the list being most telling.

The Arsenal lad Miguel seems the best bet but he won't be staying on a permanent so if he is one who the hell is the other. Something in my bones tells me it will be George Elekobi from Wolves as he can cover left back as well. My worry is he can't make the Wolves team.

If it is a Preiership reserve I am really struggling to think of anybody. Any ideas?

ref talbs yes it is strange this signing dragging on and the cb saga either we are the most disorganized club in land or we arent getting whole story. in any other major organisation this would be unacceptable i am beginning to think evans is not backing jewell as much as we are lead to believe to many deals coming undone and dragging on cant see all being pj fault still no kourama no cbs gettin desperate

Keaneish, I am totally with you mate.

Look noone with any common sense wants to come on here and just blindly have a go at the club, I certainly normally dont and nor does Keanish.

But he's absolutely spot on, it is topic as the story is about bringing a player in. What we are saying is we need centre backs not antoher midfielder (although I hope the boy is a sucess) which may be the blindingly obvious thing to say, but thats only because the club STILL havent dealt with this issue and my worry is, we currently have 2 pretty ordinary centre backs (hope I am wrong but that is my opinion) and no cover, absolutely none.

I actually think the rest of the squad is looking pretty good and you can see were the boys who came in summer have improved the team, but until they sort the fundamental cb problem out, everything else doesnt mean didly!
