Chambers: Fans Entitled to Their Say
Saturday, 22nd Sep 2012 06:01

Luke Chambers has no problem with supporters voicing their disapproval at Ipswich’s disappointing start to the season.

Asked if he can understand fans’ frustration, he replied: “Of course I can. When you lose games the fans are not going to be happy. They’ve got every right to voice their opinions.

“Our supporters pay a lot of money to come and watch us play so if we’re not doing what they are after they are entitled to. We can only do our best as players — and we’ve been doing our best up to when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net.

“At the level we are playing at we can’t afford to miss the chances we are creating. If you do there are players in every team in this division who can punish you with one chance.

“We just have to stay focused, keep doing what we have been doing and get that first goal. Then it should be a case of not even trying to hang on to it but pushing for a second.

“I believe that if the first one goes in there is a chance that we can beat teams by three or four goals.”

Entitled to comment on football yes. Entitled to single out players make them a scapegoat and try there hardest to strip them of any confidence they have because so said supporters have no concept of how to get behind a team when they need you is bang out of order. But that seems to be the Ipswich way fickle fans who believe we are better than we are.

If a supporter pays good money every week to watch the same rubbish being served up and the same players taking a salary and perceiving not to be bothered thenthe Supporter has the right to say "oi Number 66(chose at random), try a bit harder, pull your socks up and earn the right to play for town" in whatever fashion their is.

If the player continues to be poor for a number of games then he should be told so. If i bought a can of ronseal, and it didn't do what it said on the tin - i would complain. I have purchased something in good faith and it did not perform it's function. The same goes to every player in a Town Shirt.

I am 100% of getting behind the team and supporting it (more so than supporting the manager) because the players have the ability to turn a game round.

I could not go to work and not perform and that needs drumming into some of these world/panel beaters we supposedly have.

Fingers crossed for a good performance today. (why should i have to keep my fingers crossed and not expect a good performance like in the Bent/Kuqi days!!).

Good comments from a player who looks like he has his head screwed on (unlike JET and Chopra) complaining about the team, players and mangers is not what fans want but at least you have a player Luke showing some proffessionalism.

I have been moaning like a goodun, and understand JET and Chopra's annoyance.. Would like to see them rub my nose in it...
