New Boys Make Debuts But No Place for Chopra
Saturday, 6th Oct 2012 16:44

New loan signings Richie Wellens and DJ Campbell are in the Town side facing Cardiff City at Portman Road this evening (Sky Sports Two, KO 5.20pm). There is no place in the 18 for striker Michael Chopra or midfielder Guirane N’Daw.

The former Cardiff frontman appears to have been rested after this week’s off-field issues, while N’Daw was spotted leaving the ground carrying his boots an hour before kick-off. Town’s third new loan signing Bilel Mohsni is amongst the subs. Full match preview here.

Town: Loach, Edwards, Chambers, Higginbotham, Cresswell, Emmanuel-Thomas, Wellens, Drury, Martin, Campbell, Murphy. Subs: Lee-Barrett, Ainsley, Smith, Mohsni, Luongo, Carson, Scotland.

Cardiff: Marshall, McNaughton, Taylor, Hudson, Connolly, Whittingham, Gunnarsson, Cowie, Noone, Helguson, Mason. Subs: Lewis, Kiss, Turner, Velikoja, Conway, Kim, Gestede.

JeordiX - N'Door going down the drain then?

WTF. Chops not playing against his old club and N'daw dropped after a solid performance. These new boys better do well or otherwise he needs to leave. Unacceptable. I consider N'Daw as an Ipswich player now by the way.

N'Daw leaving the traning ground does not mean he has the hump or had a bust up with Jewell,He may have pulled something or have flu or a problem at home, child in hospital who knows

Let see the worst in every thing shall we

No pressure then bigolconnor for the new boys but you just want Jewell out, if we lose you will ram it down my throat but I bet if we win you wont be seen say well done Jewell

Is there anybody there...

Whilst I agree with what Karlosfandandal says about not knowing the reasons for N'Daw being dropped, it does seem rather odd. In efect we sign one loan player (N'Daw) then a few weeks later we sign another loan player (Willens) and drop the first one, despite him having performed quite creditably by all accounts.

agree bigolconnor , cresswell was woeful , Edwards and Jet were the best two by far .......why no N'daw? sorry but yet again we cannot consolidate a lead and sadly Loach was to blame for the first goal . It's all very depressing .....suggest we can only remove the Manager as otherwise i don't see it ending .

What can you say...good effort in the first half, nice bit of luck with the goal, then the second half. A poor substitution gave us no pace up front, two pieces of p**s poor communication from the defence and goalie(as if they don't train together) and the final whistle goes and its the same old story.

Do the team train together or are they to busy at one of Evan's gigs, coz i'm running out of patience with this club. As I have said before the problems are not just from the Manager they are from top to bottom, and who ends up the most upset, depressed and despondant, the fans who pay everyone of the clubs employees.

Its time the clubs staff started thinking about the passionate fans, and how much they give a s**t about the club, and start putting in more effort on and of the pitch, it all starts on the training pitch and unfortunately PJ has not got that area right at al, if he had there would be signs of improvement in the defence and finishing.

For two-thirds of the match it seems we played well with plenty of possession against a side that came to us second in the table. Unfortunately, our brittle defence continues to undermine us. At the risk of boring you all, I will say again that we can't expect to win much when we concede two goals a game. Somehow, this has to be resolved.

How much more of "Paul Jewell's Way" do we have to put up with?

Problem is once the Center half problems are sorted out they start cropping up elsewhere! - so many games where individual error's keep cropping up.
What I also find disconcerting is that the amount of matches we play where the opponents generally get on top towards the end of the game, happened in the last 3. I feel the team has no confidence and when we are up not the composure or quality to go further ahead.
Time for a change of staff and a completely different mind -set, although I do feel somewhat for Jewell after this game but on the whole probably he has to go.

Jewell has to go and the sooner the better. Whilst the players are the ones on the pitch they are surely trying to follow the managers instructions, if not he wouldn't be selecting them. Most of them are here because Jewell signed them so he can't blame anyone else. Why for instance do we defend deeper and deeper the longer the match goes on, even my under 15 team understand sometimes the best form of defence is attack. Why are we playing one up front? Put 2 up there and make the opposition have to defend. Finally don't start JET - yes occasionally he does something spectacular but for the most part he isn't involved and is a luxury we cannot afford not when we need players with some fight in them.

The tumbleweed is rolling across TWTD tonight. I had expected an avalanche of Jewell Out comments by now but it looks like us fans have lost our fight and desire and our heads have dropped just like the players. To be where we are now is totally unacceptable and this result has to be the final straw. Jewell has to go and I just hope that the despair that we all feel will go out of the door with him.

The first hour I thought we played well, Edwards was terrific first half and JET impressed me too, he reminded me a bit of Dembele in his style this evening. We were so good the first hour mainly because we were patient and played the ball on the floor, players were interchanging and we made the pitch big too. But For me our defence was too rigid, Cardiff didn't really have any pace yet our defence seemed too deep and got deeper and deeper. Higginbotham and Chambers looked good when doing the basics, blocking, tackling heading but there disribution was awful, poor old DJ had scraps because we kept lumping it to him, I thought Campbell worked his socks off by the way and was taken off prematurely. But I lost count the amount of times Danny hoofed the ball upfield for Murphy, I didnt see the point? and Chambers seemed like he was in possesion of a hot potato. we just missed out all the intelligent midfield players who were on the ball first half. Drury and Wellens needed to be more assertive at times in my opinion and be prepared to take the ball of the defence. They were both very neat but we didnt go through them we just used Murphy as an outlet all the time,. Our crossing just seemed to lack any ambition as well, and then of course there are the defensive errors, this cannot keep happening.

The manager got it all wrong from the off, he played Willens from the start who has not played competitive football for six months, madness. He took Campbell off to early. I said to the bloke next to me just before they scored their two goals, they are going to score in a minute, you could feel it coming. It is pointless commenting on the first half because it is now irrelevant. Willens might be the best midfielder in the league but if he's not match fit then he's not good enough to play

This may sound perverse to a lot of you and I may get slated for posting this but it looks like the only way to save our club and get a change in management is to not go to the next home game. Only a low attendance and a sharp drop in income is going to make Evans sit up and take notice and finally see what has to be done to turn our team's fortunes around.
