Hutchings Disappointed But Focused on Saturday
Thursday, 25th Oct 2012 14:36

Caretaker-manager Chris Hutchings says he was disappointed that boss Paul Jewell’s time at Town was brought to an end yesterday, but has his mind firmly fixed on Saturday’s home game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Hutchings said: “Obviously we when we found out about it was very, very disappointing. But we’ve got to be professional about it in preparation for the game on Saturday, as simple as that.

“Disappointed, frustrated, but things move on. That’s not being flippant about Paul because I’ve worked with Paul for 20 years and he’s become a very close friend and he’s a very good manager, but it didn’t work out.

“I’m very frustrated and the boys are frustrated. But I’ve had a meeting with them, we’ve had a chat and we’re focused on the job in hand.”

Asked what Jewell’s mood had been like when he spoke to him, the former Chelsea defender said: “Frustration. That would be about it really.

"I’m not really going to comment on it, you’ll need to speak to Paul. We’ve got a job to do now and that’s the most important thing.”

Hutchings, who watched the Owls lose 1-0 at Blackburn last night, confirmed that there are no new injuries ahead of Saturday’s game and that Daryl Murphy was merely left out of the 18 on Tuesday rather than having suffered a knock.

Jewell walked, he wasn't sacked so Hutchings and co are still under contract. Sure enough they will be gone once a new man come in with his own team I would think.

Hutchings is pi55 poor, if you thought it was bad under PJ - look out. He has been a failure at every management job he has took on. Completely inept and useless.

The fact of the matter is that Hutchings is calpable as much as jewell was and his track record as caretaker manager is awful. Klug would be a better bet as hope to god he stays under new regime. Give kids a chance again too?

I feel sad for PJ - even though he had to go. I really don't like the way some people throw around insults on here. I always have had the opinion that ITFC is a special club with a family feel and fans that are patient, intelligent about the game, and fair minded. Lets try to pick the positivity back up !! COYB !!

Are you still here??

Why are they (Hutchings/McCarthy) still here? Jobs for the boys. Hutchings has been an inept failure wherever he's managed and McCarthy is a total waste of space. What credentials does he have to be Championship coach other than he's PJ's mate!

No way they should be at the club let alone running the team bring in KLug and poor old McCarthy will be on his own as his house mate has gone

The trouble with message boards like this is it gives a voice to the clinically deranged to post utterly vile insults while remaining completely anonymous. These people you're talking about are human beings, and their only "failure" is not achieving success at a football club. It's hardly a hanging offence. Perhaps it's jealousy as I dare say most of the people hurling insults haven't achieved 1% of the success in their career Jewell and Hutchings have achieved in thiers.

Very unnecessary to lambast Hutchings now especially before our most crucial match of the season. Ok Hutchings may not have that great a record as a Manager but his CV is not that bad. Oh and Bluey I think you will find Sean McCarthy has been living on his own for quite some time now after PJ moved from Dedham but what your comment has to do with anything baffles me.

Hopefully this will be the one and only game we have with that idiot in charge, should be Klug and Osman and tell McCarthy and Hutchings to join their sad mate back in Yorkshire

In some ways it will still feel as though nothing as changed as Hutchings has always been with Jewell and probably has the same ideas. However I have a small chink of hope that he may realise some of PJ's selection errors and gives Hyam, Carson etc a chance Saturday, After all we haven't exactly been pulling-up tress results-wise by replacing them with "big-name" players

I suggest you pick a very different team to jewel , mr hutchings , for such an important game we really needed our new manager installed , but hopefully it will stir the eleven who start to put in a shift
