Striker Taylor Jogging as He Continues Recovery
Friday, 26th Oct 2012 10:13

Striker Paul Taylor is jogging and is due to see a specialist in two weeks’ time as he continues his recovery from a cracked bone in his foot. The £1.5 million frontman hopes to avoid surgery on the injury he sustained in the game against Wolves in September, which was only his third match for the club.

Caretaker-boss Chris Hutchings said: “It was very unfortunate for him. It was a big transfer for us, he was a big player for us and I think he showed in the couple of games he played what a good player he is.

“It was a six to eight-week period of settling down with the use of orthotics [inserts] in his shoes. And then just doing a little bit of work, easing it off, stepping it up and just seeing how far he goes.

“He’s been jogging a little bit and that’s as far as it goes. I think in a couple of weeks he’ll be seeing a specialist and we’ll know a little bit more then.”

Meanwhile, former Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson, who has been linked with the Town job and was mentioned in connection with the Blues when the position was last available 21 months ago, says he is looking for a return to management: “I do want to get back in work.

“I might not be the best dressed of the managers available and I might not talk the same bull**** as the managers who’re available, but I have got the best record in the Championship of all the managers who’re available.”

Ex-Canary Megson, who is hardly a fans' favourite at Portman Road despite an own goal winner in a derby in the mid-nineties, is understood to have been on gardening leave since being relieved of his duties at Hillsborough in March.

Im not enjoying the Megson PR campaign. We do not do Ginger at Ipswich. So no Megson no.
He would simply wreck the team photo, thats good enough reason for me.

Megson has the best record in championship of all the managers available? Mick McCarthy would disagree with that!

Megson is a canary, end of.
Funny to see Megson touting himself!

Feel sorry for PJ. Had Taylor been fit all this time he might still have his job and we might not be bottom.

I'm convinced he is going to be a brilliant player for us.

Get lost Megson! No one wants you here! Was a decent manager about 10 years ago, would be a terrible choice

Megson the best record of any of the Championship managers..... Reminds me of Michael Knighton when he took over (sorry didnt take over) Man Utd. The guy is dellusional.
Burley must have a better record than him as must Mcarthy, Davies, Keegan etc etc....
Wasn't it at the Reebok that he was announced as their manager and walked to the dugout in complete silence? They didnt want him and neither do I.... We deserve and can get better than him....

Garv: I agree that Taylor is a good player & will hopefully be very successful here over the coming years, but I'm sure he would have had an impact in helping to save PJ's job. It was a strange signing, considering the money & the areas in which we really needed quality reinforcements. For attacking players we would have been better off securing the likes of Baldock and/or Davies who both ended up at Bristol City for just over £2m. They have 10 league goals between them already & that is exactly what we needed then (& defenders).
Taylor looks a class player & is exciting but he's not your 20+ a season goalscorer; more your attacking midfielder who'll chip in from the wing with maybe 6 a season. We were not badly served in that department before he arrived. If we had £2m to spend, there were other priorities & it signalled a level of uncertainty & desperation in the manager for me. Maybe the new manager will use him in his best position with the rest of the team similarly deployed in a clear & balanced formation, hopefully.

Great news to hear Taylor is getting better. Nice to see some positive news on here...

Hold on... the boys having a drink in a bar, like normal people do has more comments! Damn... aren't we always saying footballers are a little outta touch with the general public.
