Lawrence Nets Last Gasp Equaliser for U21s
Lawrence Nets Last Gasp Equaliser for U21s
Tuesday, 30th Oct 2012 16:58

Young midfielder Byron Lawrence netted in the final minute to grab a 2-2 draw for Town’s U21s at Brentford's Griffin Park this afternoon.

Earlier, full-back David October had put through his own goal before Jack Ainsley equalised a minute before the break.

Luke Norris put the Bees back in front prior to Lawrence levelling with the last kick of the match.

Coach Sean McCarthy told the club site: “I think a draw was a fair result in the end and overall I’m happy with the performances of the lads.

“Arran made a number of smart saves, whilst I was also impressed with Bilel Mohsni at centre-half and Jack Ainsley up front.

"We pushed Jack up top after Jack Marriott came down ill just before the game but he should be OK.

“It was also good for Elliott Hewitt and Cormac Burke to get around 75 minutes each, after both returning from injury.”

U21s: Lee-Barrett, Hewitt (Hammond 77), October, Mohsni, Whight, Luongo, Berkane (Clarke 86), Lawrence, Burke (Winter 76), Timlin, Ainsley. Unused: Marsden.

Well if it is mick mcCarthy taking over as seems very likely now ladbrokes have suspended betting on him . Then young lawrence may well get a chance in the first team

Anyone watch the game?

What position did Ainsley play? If Hewitt is making his come back in the right back slot, i'd like to see Ainsley playing Right Central Defence. The more those two build up a partnership the better given how young they are.

Does anyone else get the feeling our manager appointment will drag on . Gut feeling we will not have anyone in time for the weekend , i sense from Clegs comments that whilst there is a shortlist ,one of those reasons is they may not be able to attract target number 1.

Ainsley played well (according to Sean McCarthy) and scored a goal! Another Bam Bam in the making?? lol
Glad to see Moshni played at the back and not up front. We need him ready to step in at the back in the seniors when he is fully fit.
