Hutchings Leaves Town
Thursday, 1st Nov 2012 09:51

Town have confirmed the immediate exit of Paul Jewell's assistant manager Chris Hutchings. Terry Connor has taken on his role under his former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy.

The former Bradford, Wigan and Walsall boss, who leaves Town by mutual consent, told the club site: “I’ve enjoying working for this fantastic football club over the last 20 months.

“I’d like to wish the owner, the players and all the staff the very best of fortunes for the future. I’d also like to wish Mick and Terry the best of luck at Portman Road.”

Blues chief executive Simon Clegg added: “I’d like to thank Chris for his outstanding services to Ipswich Town and wish him well for the future.”

Hutchings was the Blues' caretaker-manager for Saturday's disastrous 3-0 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

There is as yet no news regarding Jewell's other coaches, Sean McCarthy and Mark Kennedy - who played for McCarthy with Millwall and for the Republic of Ireland - Andy Liddell or U18s coach Russell Osman, who was also appointed by Jewell.

Will be difficult for Jewell and Hutchings to get another job in the top 2 divisions. As it has been for Keane!
Ipswich Town : manager graveyard.

Best of luck Hutch. Although we never saw much of your work, it is greatly appreciated. Hope Kennedy stays as well as Liddell.

All the best. As has been said won't be easy to get a Championship job but lower down he might find success with or without PJ.

Blues chief executive Simon Clegg added: “I'd like to thank Chris for his outstanding services to Ipswich Town and wish him well for the future.”

Outstanding services? Well, in a way I suppose his and PJs services DID stand out... as the worst ITFC mangement team in living history! So yes... thanks a bunch guys!!!

Just what I expect to hear from Simon Clegg... more inept and out of touch every day. I suspect there was a "gentleman's agreement" that if Clegg blew his horn in praise of the fantastic services of PJ & CH, that the two of them wouldn't blurt out what a complete no-hoper Clegg is!

On a lighter note... I wish the new management team all the best and hope that MM, TC & MH can bring a positive brand of winning football to Portman Road and send us climbing the table away from the dangers of league one.

Now is the time for the support to come together and rally behind the new management AND the players and make some noise for the lads on Saturday against Birmingham.

3 points please!

I think maybe Clegg is trying to be dignified. If he acted any other way I would be disgusted.

Good luck Hutch

Wish some people would have some class and dignity on here. It didn't work out for PJ and Hutchings but they tried their hardest but still failed.

I don't think that PJ will get a job in the top 2 Divs but I wish them both luck and hope that both their careers get back on track.

Goodbye and good riddance, utterly hopeless and full of bluster and b/s before Sheff Wed game, look how well that motivated the troops.

is'nt a need for some negative posts on a mans departure.. went wrong for Jewell and Hutchings sometime ago, and a recovery was never on the cards, with so many below average players brought in.. sooner as the wasters leave the club the better.. MM will have his work cut out, but hope he succeeds

There was a time when we were gracious and fair to people who tried but failed, no longer it seems from SOME of these posts, it appears. MM must have the requsite thick skin to even contemplate coming here if he even glanced at this site beforehand, probably comes from his time at WW (the "football is better than sex" club)!

I think a bit of dignity and professionalism is what is called for.
PJ and CH tried their best and it was not good enough, but that's no reason to be disrespectful. Part of the reason that people feel entitled to attack them is of course the huge salaries that they get paid, but that's not the fault of anyone at Town, that's football.

Although I am not a fan of his there is no need for negative snipe and to be honest pathetic digs on here. Both CH and PJ worked hard and tried there best sadly it didnt work the board have acted and brought in a new regime and good luck to them. Maybe Phil this is the time for you to act and bar some of these moaning rude and mindless budgies!!!

I wish all the best to PJ and CH and welcome our new Management team COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
