Amir Karic has been hit with a £3,000 fine after returning from Slovenia's World Cup qualification celebrations late. The former NK Maribor player was supposed to return on the Friday, but didn't appear until the Monday.

However, Karic feels this was unfair: "I feel it is unfair to be fined in this way. When the president of your country invites you to a party to celebrate going to the World Cup, you should go. I tried to explain to the Gaffer but he did not want to know. He even fined me for the Sunday when there was no-one in for training."

Karic attended a celebration party thrown by Milan Kucan, the Slovenian president, and Janez Drnovsek, the prime minister. Karic and his team-mates had been welcomed back from Rumania by 15,000 fans while another 6,000 were outside whilst the presidential function went on.

Karic has made just three appearances, all in the Worthington Cup, for Town and earlier in the season George Burley said that he would listen to offers for him.
