Barnett Will Add Pace and Power
Friday, 23rd Nov 2012 17:01

Blues boss Mick McCarthy says new loan signing Tyrone Barnett will add a bit of pace and power up front. Barnett has joined the Blues on loan until January from Saturday’s opponents Peterborough but is not able to face his parent club.

McCarthy said: “He’ll bring a bit of power and pace up front, and a physical presence without any doubt. If we get the right service to him, he’ll score goals. He’s impressed in training already this week.

“What is nice is that the scouting reports we’ve had before from Steve McCall and the others, and my own scouts all said ‘If you can get him until January, that’ll be excellent’.”

Town were interested in signing the 27-year-old from Crawley in January, before his £1.2 million switch to Posh, but McCarthy says talks have not yet taken place with either Barnett or his current club regarding a longer term switch: “No, we’ve just taken him on loan and we’ll see what happens.”

In terms of the off-field issue which led to the striker’s Peterborough exit, McCarthy says he hasn’t looked into the matter: “I don’t know what happened there. I’m not going to start finding out, I want him to come in and play for me, I’m not going to be delving too deeply on that one.”

only time will tell and up to the players to earn the respect from the fans who pay their wages and give us something to cheer about, plus if these loans deals dont work out we will have a very slim line squad which could be a bonus ready for next season

I do like the way Mick deals with these things. If he does the business on the pitch, he can get hammered every night of the week as far as I'm concerned.
The whole Peterbor falling out seems v suspect in any case. One of the other guys transfer-listed is their church-going, tee-total captain of several years. Very odd. More to that than meets the eye IMO.

Nice to see him say that he adds a bit of pace and power. Think we have severely lacked both this season! We don't have anyone who can run at players and cause problems whatsoever!

Superfranz, that player was taken off the transfer list and did not have to pay his fine. He went out with them that night but not till as late.

Pace and power , describes one of my Friday night conquests . I ask a girl for a dance ,she delivers a left hook and a sub 10 second 100 metre sprint. In fact worringly he looks familiar lol

Have a feeling he will link up well with Chopra, Scotland or Campbell. Cant be any worse than Ellington
