Town Will Block Edwards Call Tuesday, 27th Nov 2012 11:10 Manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed that the Blues won’t be allowing skipper Carlos Edwards to join up with the Trinidad and Tobago squad for the Digicel Caribbean Football Union Cup next month. The eight-team tournament in Antigua runs from December 7th-16th, outside FIFA’s designated international weeks having originally been scheduled for June and July. That means clubs are not compelled to release players for the games and McCarthy says that that being the case his captain will be remaining at Portman Road: “Unless we have to give him up then I wouldn’t want him to go.” Joining the Soca Warriors for the competition would have seen Edwards, who has been capped 82 times by his country, scoring four goals, miss Town’s home fixture with Millwall and the game at Leeds.
