Jay Emmanuel-Thomas scored twice and Bilel Mohsni, Cormac Burke and Ronan Murray once each as a Town second string side thrashed Tottenham 5-1 in a friendly at Spurs Lodge this afternoon.
Town were a goal in front through Mohsni at the break against a Tottenham side including Scott Parker, who was playing his first game after an Achilles' injury, and former Blues loanee Massimo Luongo.
Also in the Blues line-up were Scott Loach, Elliott Hewitt, Kelly Youga, Ronan Murray and Josh Carson.
Boss Mick McCarthy, who announced his intention to organise some reserves friendlies with the U21s without a game until the new year, was amongst those watching the match.

Ipswich 5 Tottenham Hotspur 1.....a result I look forward to seeing in a couple of seasons time when our superb Manager takes us back to our rightful place in football. COYB
Looks like JET's starting to gather momentum finally, he made an impact at the weekend so hopefully his confidence is growing. Nice to see Mohsni on the score sheet, still think he has a part to play!
Good result nice to see Jay bag a couple, Would be interesting to see if he played up front baring in mind Terry Connor has been helping his development as a central striker in training. I know the opposition was a reserve team but If he did play up front it shows Terry's work could be really benefiting Jay's all round game.
Well done the reserves. Would be great to see some genuine competition for places in the first team and this kind of performance will only help. Still think JET is a class act and if he works hard can be one of the best players in the Championship.Glad to see him do well. We obviously have no shortage of talent at Portman Road and its good to see Terry and Mick making good progress .COYB.
