Duo Linked With Campbell Move
Sunday, 16th Dec 2012 14:48

Town are set to face opposition from Crystal Palace and Bolton for QPR striker DJ Campbell’s signature, according to one of Sunday’s tabloids. The 31-year-old’s three-month loan with the Blues is up on January 5th.

Palace are now managed by Ian Holloway, who was previously Campbell’s boss at Blackpool and who tried to take him back to Bloomfield Road in September prior to his temporary switch to Town.

On Friday, QPR boss Harry Redknapp, who is short of striking options due to injuries, said he wished that Campbell was at Loftus Road and seems likely to bring him back into the fold when his loan is up, although could ultimately look to other options longer term.

Town boss Mick McCarthy - who said last week that he expected other clubs to show interest in Campbell - wants to sign him on a permanent basis but is yet to hold talks with his QPR counterpart.

The player himself, whose contract is up at the end of the season, has said he is looking for a permanent move if he isn't in QPR's plans rather than a further loan.

At the end of the day like 99% of footballers today, it'll be down to who offers him the most £'s. would like to him to stay but I can see Palace getting him with Holloway now in charge

Lets show our ambition and sign him up to get us up.

I think the reality will be that Palace will be far more tempting, with rejoining Holloway and playing in a side (in London) that is carving out chances left, right and centre (an absolute dream for a striker) and the chance to play at the top end of this division, maybe one last jaunt into the Premier League. Even as a Town fan I'd be thinking Palace is the best option for him..
Plus this talk about Chopper, he has been disappointing and I wouldn't be overly disappointed if he left but maybe under MM it's his time to actually live up to all his hype and put the performances in on the pitch.. Personally I think MM will already have ideas of other players he would like to sign if we can't get DJ

well for me signing dj is a must but like others i recon he will end up at palce, but unl;ike oithers i still believe with a run in the team along side murphy chops will get us goals, he is ring rusty but he has spent most of his time on the pitch as a loan striker with poor service, up at the top as a pair i think he will shine once again,

but like some have said i would sign or sell martin in january, he puts in 110% effort but does lack a final ball at times and a suitable replacement must be found, would also like to see young josh carson give a go instead of edwards esp if orr goes and edwards moves back to RB unless hewit gets the nodd of course, but imagine if carson comes on song and have hewitt as a right back in say a years time i recon we could have two awsome wings, but were does that leave JET though im not sure were he fits in

All depends where Palace are in the league, come the end of DJ loan. Seeing how the championship is going this season a team has only to go on a bad run and their league position plummets. Given what MM has done so far, we could be not far behind Palace at the end of DJ's loan spell.

Hopefully we can tempt him to stay,Chopra is way off the mark ,30/40 goals this season , he is unlikely to make 20 ! look around for another frontman .

Appreciate he has got the goals , which is the main brief for any striker , BUT , no great loss if we dont get him permanently , imo think we should go for someone younger ,

It would be a shame if we dont get him, but I feel we all need to be realistic here and know its unlikely (although not impossible) we are going to get this guy permanently.

However he is not the only option out there, I'm sure MM has other irons in the fire as theres no doubt he will need replacing, we can't rely on Chopra, Scotland etc.
