Villa Tickets Sell Out
Tuesday, 18th Dec 2012 10:55

Town have now sold their entire allocation of 2,900 tickets for the FA Cup third round tie at Aston Villa on Saturday 5th January.

The final few seats went on sale by phone this morning, the majority having gone to Gold and Silver Card members and season ticket holders via the usual priority system.

With only the 2,900 tickets available to the club on a sale or return basis, Town say no further seats will go on sale.

I love how this information is on TWTD but no the main club web site. Pathetic

If 650 on average per away game so 2,900 seems more than appropriate for me. Last time we played at Villa Park I sat in with the Villa fans in the Trinity Road End cos we had sold out and they hadn't, I respected my environment, chatted to the Natives and enjoyed it, if you go in with the right attitude this is a viable option for anyone.

While I agree that it does seem unfair that regular away fans who are not season ticket holders have missed out I also find the whole attitude behind the "part time supporters" comments very annoying! I have been a season ticket holder for 12 years and been to many away games during that time. I admit I have not been to any so far this season yet but that is because at 30 and with a baby on the way I can't justify it as often as I used to when i had no commitments. In the past I have missed out on tickets to big games also. As a football supporter you have to take the rough with the smooth. Anyone who hasn't attended 100% of games home and away is not automatically a part time supporter!

Villa would be wise to offer cash turnstiles for away fans surely?

well as i said before there is 8 of us traveling up and we will go in the holt end and we will go sh####s if we score .... just one thing itfc did we only get 2,900 for the arsenal game as we only have on av 650 travel away NO so that arguement is b######ks... and the same as mam i was a season ticket holder for 15 years , but if it means our football club are so distant from the supporters now we will go in the holt end see ya all there.......

I thought that the home club had to offer up a set %ge of the total capacity for FA cup games?
0

Paulc added 12:58 - Dec 18
^^^ I belive it is 15% of capacity, which at Villa Park which is 42,788. So why have we not been allocated 6,418?

Lot of talk about "how much of a joke this club is" on the ticket issue, but I doubt it's much different at most other clubs. Think some just like to think Ipswich are a specially bad case for the purpose of having a gratuitous moan.

Not suggesting that the ticketing for this game couldn't have been handled in a way more friendly to travelling fans, but judging by what I've heard from fans of other clubs on occasion, it could honestly be a lot worse. I frankly have never had a problem with ITFC ticketing in all the years I've been using it.

I too will be in the Holte End with several other Town fans ....sorry ITFC you have got this one wrong ...even most League 2 clubs would have sold out an allocation of 2,900 !!

NSL added 13:12 - Dec 18
One of the main reasons for the allocation is being snapped up is the fact that two tickets for Aston Villa away, one of the most historic grounds in the FA Cup is quite a nice little Xmas present for a town supporter. 1,000's will have thought the same. What a cock up.

MathieandMarshall - totally agree.
I have always found this argument about 'part time supporters' divisive and silly.
Perhaps I should claim to be a better supporter than 99% because I went to Moscow and Smederevo in the UEFA Cup !
Have Villa sold out all the home sections as well ?
If not they should be offering us more tickets or this whole 15% rule is a waste of time.

Joke allocation- only 2900 for us and sold out already, so why can't we have some more tickets..... some of the ground is not even being opened and Villa are only charging £10 and £15 for some sections for adults, £20 for Town fans ...isn't that against the FA rules ?
I reckon alot of Town fans will get bargain priced seats in the Villa areas .....lucky to get 25,000 on a cold January day in a ground that holds 42,000 !

Please ignore my earlier comments, I hadn't seen the prior article. That will explain my stupidity!

itfcjon - I have supported this club for over 40 years, had a season ticket for over 25, went to the FA/UEFA/Playoff finals, travelled to over 70 league grounds following them and into Europe too. Now i have a family and cant afford or spare the time to go to many away games (much as i would love to), so yes i am one of those that pick and chose my away games, and yes i am going to Villa.
Does it make me less of a supporter than you, or less entitled to go - NO IT DOESN'T !!

I struggle to understand the issue here. Everyone has the opportunity at the season to purchase a Season Ticket and Gold Card or if they cannot afford a season ticket ( which is totally understandable in the current economic climate ) a Silver Card or Away Match Day Passport which gives them the priority to purchase a ticket for away games.

For the past 3 or 4 years we have had this issue, maybe with the exception of last season and we stull have people moaning, it's simple purchase some form of membership at the start of the season. £ 15.00 is surely not too much to virtually guarantee a ticket for this type of match !!!

NITFC - I have a season ticket & a gold card but my step son doesn't. He goes to the odd game throughout the season and wanted to go to Villa as it's a Premiership ground and FA Cup 3rd round day. So I said I'd take him but had to wait until the general sale. We went to Hull for the FA Cup 3rd round last year when a few hundred Town fans went obtaining tickets no problem. Sadly we won't be going to Villa as I wasn't successful this morning. True, I could buy him a Silver Card at the beginning of the season just in case but have not had the problem before. Still, we're not going and that's that.

Luckily we'll be at Wolves and Cardiff since, strangely, away tickets seem easier to obtain for these matches (or will be when Cardiff go on general sale). Must have got more than 2900 :-P

stinkiusminkius added 14:54 - Dec 18
You can't really blame Town for putting a limit as to how many tickets to buy. They could have got another 500, 1000, 2000? But at some point they wouldn't all sell and Town would have to foot the bill for the remaining ones.

To me, Villa are the fools as there is no way that the ground will sell out, so they could have given the option of more tickets to Town but with a money back option (which they can do). However, it now means there will be a lot of mingling of fans (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but not what Villa would want). All could have been organised better.

Dozells bobblehat it dose not make you less a supporter I have lived in Leeds and been a member of the supporters club since 1960 and have all ways followed town I have been to 9 away matches this season and seen the very heavy defeats but now the part time travelling supporters come out of the woodwork and I miss out on trip to villa unless I get my ticket from villa and sit with there fans
