Ebanks-Blake Speculation Dismissed
Thursday, 20th Dec 2012 17:52

Wolves manager Ståle Solbakken has dismissed speculation that striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake will be leaving Molineux in January. Town, managed by Mick McCarthy, who signed the 26-year-old during his time in charge of the Midlanders, was recently claimed to be a possible destination for the ex-Manchester United and Plymouth man, whose contract is up at the end of the season.

However, Solbakken says he has a lot of time for the striker, who has scored seven times in 23 games so far this season: “He's been unlucky in front of goal but he's been working harder than ever, his attitude is 100 per cent - on and off the pitch he's been superb.

"Even when he hasn't been playing, he's been encouraging the other players and been very positive. So I'm not thinking about him [leaving] - I was thinking more generally, and not anyone in particular."

Would be a decent replacement for DJC (if he goes back to QPR)...still think we're yet to see the best of Chopra though..if only he could get hismself fully focused on scoring goals.

Be interesting to see if Wolves offer him a new contract, and if so at what wages. Very much doubt we could compete financially if Wolves want to keep him and a very important contract for Ebanks Blake in terms of his age. A lot will depend on if the players wants to play week in week out on a lesser wage or sit on the bench for more money. This obviously only applicable if the article is correct and Wolves not looking to sell in January.

He would certainly be an exciting signing with a 1-in-3 goal scoring ratio at both Plymouth and Wolves. Born in Cambridge so may be interested in coming back to this part of the country to reunite with McCarthy, but I expect it will boil down to money.

You forget he's only 26. Feels like he was sticking them past us YEARS ago(!)

I'd take him, but I very much doubt there's anything in this. Ipswich low-scoring, striker needed, Mick McCarthy, Wolves, Ebanks-Blake... all a bit too easy.

Yes get him, he's a great player. partner him with Dj we will score loads of goals then.
I have always rated him I put a post on here last year we should sign him.
That was when he wasn't getting much game time last season.
We should keep Dj too for the right price.

Any player that you fear when in opposition to us, is worth having on our side, this man would be an excellent signing if we can get him, you never know !

Potentially an excellent addition.

Chopra's court hearing starts on Jan 14th and, if found guilty, a prison sentence is in the offing. DJ may or may not be here past Jan 5th so Mick knows we need to address this situation early doors in Jan.

I've been hoping we were going to get linked to him ever since MM came in.

At this level, he is a really good player.

Lets hope somthing can be done, especially if the Campbell deal goes tits up!

similar type of player to Jason Scotland, only younger by a few years (I maybe wrong) and quicker.. would be decent here, but doubt it will occur

i think i'm right in saying the Blake side of his family comes from Cambridge,so family close not sure if that is a help or not.I would be in favour of him coming in,it's only speculation of course who knows what Mick is planning? I remember him scoring in front of north stand some years ago,big and strong with a big heart.
