Orr's Future Unclear
Friday, 21st Dec 2012 06:02

Bradley Orr has no idea what the future holds for him beyond the end of January when his three-month loan from Blackburn is due to expire.

All that concerns him for the time being is that he carries on enjoying his time with Town, which has coincided with a major transformation under new boss Mick McCarthy.

Orr said: “I’m really enjoying it here. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms. The games have been good and the training spot-on. Everything has been fine and it’s been a good period for me.”

Asked if he is likely to extend his loan, or perhaps even sign a permanent deal, he replied: “I haven’t even thought about it or spoken about it. I suppose that conversation will probably come a week before the loan is due to finish. I just take each day as it comes and I’ll see what happens nearer the time.

“I haven’t got a clue what people are thinking. Blackburn will probably be thinking ‘stay away’ but I don’t know as far as Ipswich are concerned. I’ll just see.

“It’s all about the here and now, really, and we’ve still got about six weeks left of the loan. In a month’s time we’ll probably be thinking more about what will be.”

Orr was allowed to leave Ewood Park after Henning Berg replaced the axed Steve Kean as manager, a move that has seen Rovers plunge down the Championship table.

He added: “I haven’t heard from anybody. Out of sight, out of mind I suppose. I have spoken to a couple of the players who are pals of mine — I was just wishing them well — but as far as anything official is concerned there has been no contact. That’s just the way it is.

“I’m just here to try my best and help the club out. As I’ve said all along, if that’s good enough then great. If it’s not, it’s not. There’s not much more that you can do on a football pitch but try your best.

“We’re all going to make mistakes at whatever level we play. You don’t mean to make them but as far as effort and commitment are concerned I’ll always try to give my best and if that helps the squad out then great.”

“I haven't even thought about it or spoken about it."

I have thought and spoken about whether Orr will stay, but the man himself hasn't?! :-)

Bradley has done very well for us. I'd extend his loan to the end of the season, but hope that Hewitt can take his place in the first team by the end of the season. We have to give youth a chance, but we also must stay up so letting Orr and Hewitt compete the rest of this season seems sensible.

I think Bradley is in his thirtys so he will be looking for a contract of at least 2 years or he will end up in league 1 next season.

I would defo take him on a 2 year deal. He is solid and experienced in that position and Hewitt will learn from someone like him. Orr is also versatile as he proved when MM moved him to Central midfield vs Bolton and he did well (effectively setting up Chops goal) GOOD ATTITUDE. GOOD PLAYER.

A good solid professional who after a shaky start has done well for us. Would be a decent player to have on a permanent basis and the fact that he can fill a midfield place if required is handy.

He could probaly do a half decent job at cb if chambers got injured, i'd like to see smith stay on that left handside he's starting to get settled in nicely

good squad player, sensible age, should be on sensible wages...... id take him for sure.......

I can see us having a solid first team with only a few spares in the squad next season, so id expect a few of the lads with contracts expiring to go, but people like Orr, Drury i can see staying as squad players as they can play a couple of positions and they shouldnt be on big money......

Well based on the supporting photo for the article, if your future is not at Protman Road, I reckon you could get a spot on Strictly doing the Charleston :-)

On his form so far I wouldn't sign him up. If he improves then perhaps a one year deal. Just makes me feel a bit iffy sometimes.

How old is he?

In the David Wright mould steady if unspectacular! 6 or 7 out of 10 man. Would love Hewitt to be number 1 choice with Orr as backup

Agree with ipswich24 - never understood why we let David Wright go!
