Orr a Big Fan of Hewitt
Friday, 21st Dec 2012 09:20

The Elliott Hewitt fan club has attracted yet another member in Bradley Orr, the right-back currently keeping the fit-again former Macclesfield player on the Town bench.

Orr has been ever-present during a six-match run since arriving on loan from Blackburn, while Hewitt has played less than 10 minutes of first-team football as a late substitute in the games against Millwall and Leeds.

But just as Luke Chambers was quick to praise Hewitt, Orr has also seen plenty to impress him. He said: “I think Elliott could be a top player, I really do, and obviously you’ve got Carlos Edwards who can play there too.

"It’s really good and it’s what you need, competition for places, at any football club that is looking to be successful.

“You need a little bit of pressure, someone breathing down your neck. It’s healthy and it’s up to you how you react to that.

“Elliott is very athletic, very composed and a very level-headed young lad. He has a good attitude and is very willing to learn and those sorts of assets can take you as far as you want to go, especially if you’ve got them in you at such a young age.”

Hewitt, a summer signing by Paul Jewell, is now fully fit after hip surgery and his first senior start for Town cannot be far away.

Orr added: “While I’m here, however long that might be, I will always be available to give Elliott any help and advice I can. If I can pass on just one bit of advice that will help him I will. I think he’s a real prospect and hopefully he will go on to fulfil his potential.”

I think if we have a good christmas period and steer clear of relegation we should give him some game time and see how he does. Hopefully next year he can be our next Cresswell and be a regular starter.

I'd stick him in the starting line up now.

Lots of potential in a back four of Loach, Hewitt, Chambers, Smith and Cresswell going forward.
