Orr: Ipswich a Fantastic Club
Friday, 21st Dec 2012 11:42

Bradley Orr’s experience during the first half of his three-month loan spell from Blackburn has done nothing to put him off extending it or even signing for Ipswich on a permanent basis.

Right-back Orr did not hold back when asked for his thoughts on Town, stating: “Ipswich Town is a fantastic football club, it really is. It’s full of good people and it really is a sleeping giant.”

Asked if Ipswich fans had seen the best of him yet, Orr replied: “I’ve just been doing the best I can and I’m not going to comment beyond that. It’s not for me to say if I’ve played well or if I haven’t. It’s for other people to comment on that.

“Obviously, I know there is more to come and hopefully I’ll produce that but all I can do is give my best, which I always try to do when I’m on the football pitch.”

Orr is not concerned about the distance between Ipswich and his family home in Liverpool, adding: “It’s a job at the end of the day and in every walk of life people have to travel to find work.

“Football’s no different and you won’t hear me complaining. People say it’s far away and I know what they mean. My family are still in Liverpool — my children are in school there — so that’s the only thing that isn’t ideal.

“But it can’t be any other way because I’m only here until the end of January and it wouldn’t make any sense to pull the kids out of school for three months.

“I’ve lived away from Liverpool since the age of 16 and until I was 29. It makes no difference to me where I’m living and my family have followed me everywhere.

“Sometimes, if you are going to uproot and leave, you need a bit of security in terms of knowing how long you are likely to be in one place or another. You work round the situation and adjust.

“Geographically, you get on with it even if you are away from your family. I don’t know where I’m going to be beyond January so for now I’ll knuckle down and work as hard as I can.”

Orr admitted the thought of playing permanently for new Town boss Mick McCarthy excited him. He said: “Yes, 100 per cent, because he’s been different class.

“I’ve really enjoyed it here so far but right now it’s all about Saturday’s game and then moving on to the next. You’ve just got to take it a game at a time and not get too carried away or beyond yourself. It’s all about picking up points, as many as possible, along the way.”

Ha! No, just he was the man out up to speak to the press yesterday. Comes across well, I think.

Seems like he wants to stay. Would have no problem with that. He can also cover midfield if required & would help young Hewitt immensley imo.

Our defensive record since he has started playing has been a lot better.

Yes, you are right and I feel a lot more confidant at the moment. Even last week, at Leeds, I wasn't unhappy when we went behind, just thought ' its OK we will score a couple now and put the situation right'. Unfortunately, last week, it didn't happen but it hasn't left a lasting impression because I am still feeling reasonably confident for the future. Amazing! COYB
