Town Reinstated In Cup
Friday, 1st Feb 2013 16:13

Town have been reinstated in the Suffolk Premier Cup after Felixstowe and Walton were removed from the competition having fielded an ineligible player during their 2-1 quarter-final victory over the Blues in early January.

A statement from the Suffolk FA reads: “In line with the rules of the Suffolk County FA Cup competitions, Felixstowe and Walton United FC have been removed from the 2012/13 Premier Cup and Ipswich Town FC have been reinstated to the competition.

“Felixstowe and Walton United FC played an ineligible player in their match against Ipswich Town FC on the 8th January and have therefore forfeited the match.”

Felixstowe and Walton have subsequently issued a statement outlining the circumstances surrounding their expulsion.

Town field a second string side in the tournament with a very young team largely made up of academy players having played in the last round. Previously, a stronger Blues side had beaten Walsham-le-Willows 5-1 in the first round.

Poppycock, they want Ipswich back in it to put bums on seats, not that they have seats.

Shame we can't find a reason to be reinstated back to the Premier league.

Just read the report on Felixstowe's website (thanks for the link ITFCFW).
Glad to see the FA are cr4p on a regional level as well as nationally!

Small clubs always seem to get a raw deal from the blazerati. If you're a Prem club like West Ham with Carlos Tevez a few years back, then no worries....

Our local FA are a bunch of clicky tw@ts. Played football for Walton united Felixstowe town and when both clubs merged and they have always had something about Felixstowe sides.

Forget about being reinstated, how about us being instated into the top two?

Surely as this was an admin error partly Suffolk F A fault Itfc could emerge with a lot of kudos by withdrawing and letting Felixstowe go through. it's surely not that important to us. I'm not aware they used Messi as a ringer. Do the big thing town.

Absolute disgraceful decision by Suffolk FA but typical of them! What else would you expect from a bunch of jobsworths full of their own importance!

Well, won't we just feel fabulous if we end up winning this cup. Nonsense.

I'm with Fatcat. ITFC should step aside and show the idiots at Suffolk FA that they should accept the blame for this.

Disgraceful decision by the FA, clearly been made to make profit and publicity for the poor cup that it is.

Only joined this evening after reading this thread, I follow the Seasiders but genuinely nice to read stuff from guys with integrity, we really appreciate it. We were really proud of our achievement on the night and bitterly disappointed with the SFA decision. Hopefully ITFC will decline re-instatement which would show the SFA up somewhat. Thanks for your comments guys.
