Clapham Aiming for England Friday, 30th Nov 2001 16:03 Town left midfielder Jamie Clapham is targeting a place in the England squad. In recent weeks Clapham has gone from a man on the fringes at Portman Road looking likely to depart, to a regular starting place. However, Clapham doesn't aim to stop there. Last season there were suggestions he might get an England call-up, something he now aims to make come true: "I definitely feel I have a chance to play for England. My ambition is to play at the highest level possible, and that includes the national team. Sven-Goran Eriksson and Tord Grip have been to plenty of our games, although often when I haven't played! If I get a run in the side and show the form of last season hopefully I can go one step further in my career. Arsenal is a very big game, but they are all big, difficult games at the moment. It's not any bigger for me as an ex-Tottenham player, I'm just pleased to be playing in these sort of games. I've done what's been asked of me and feel I have played well when I've had the chance and I'm hoping to take that opportunity."
